動人心弦的小男孩 (Little Boy Touches Hearts)

I was walking around in a Target store, when I saw a Cashier hand this little boy some money back.
3 X$ @. X, I5 U. z我在「塔杰」商店閒逛時,看到收銀員將一些錢退還給小男孩。

! J1 X" U% a; _) z, Z4 f- t$ ]/ nThe boy couldn ' t have been more than 5 or 6 years old.5 D. |% x: B/ _- |

! \- J2 N; h" EThe Cashier said, ' I ' m sorry, but you don ' t have enough money to buy this doll. '
- d; g9 o* i& ]1 @: i; I; G" q收銀員說:『抱歉!你買這娃娃的錢不夠。』7 Y& \+ E, x9 m5 N; U; g- ~) z# ]9 l

  `1 |# z, t5 ^6 V) DThen the little boy turned to the old woman next to him: ' ' Granny,2 F- u3 ?$ {  `9 e
are you sure I don ' t have enough money? ' '- b; w  b0 D$ j; w2 n
小男孩轉向他旁邊的老婦人:3 z# Y/ Q( ]) s& J5 ~

% z4 s1 Q( {2 x8 o. rThe old lady replied: ' ' You know that you don ' t have enough money to buy this doll, my dear. ' '

9 ?" N: ^+ n) I; w7 t0 C8 W; L$ |$ ` % f( K4 i0 |$ W5 v4 l; l

; F( v) J% D: H" q# ZThen she asked him to stay there for just 5 minutes while she went to look around. She left quickly.

The little boy was still holding the doll in his hand.

Finally, I walked toward him and I asked him who he wished to give this doll to.

2 c' ^1 {( h& t6 Y' d+ J'It ' s the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so much for Christmas.

2 ]; E& c! t3 Z7 }% ]/ iShe was sure that Santa Claus would bring it to her. '

* G/ J4 t9 ?4 H% |I replied to him that maybe Santa Claus would bring it to her after all, and not to worry.7 |$ a2 Y4 W+ y' F2 a

" {0 a* m4 y( o3 s( L5 z, g) BBut he replied to me sadly. ' No, Santa Claus can ' t bring it to her where she is now. I have to give the doll to my mommy so that she can give it to my sister when she goes there. '% u( g# H6 w6 N4 d& D; S# |: g

His eyes were so sad while saying this. ' My Sister has gone to be with God. Daddy says that Mommy is going to see God very soon too, so I thought that she could take the doll with her to give it to my sister. ' '

& h' r( f- M: N- n0 H# W' [The little boy looked up at me and said: ' I told daddy to tell mommy not to go yet. I need her to wait until I come back from the mall. '

Then he showed me a very nice photo of himself. He was laughing. He then told me ' I want mommy to take my picture with her so she won ' t forget me. '  T; p, k$ B9 a, k) r. r2 U# M5 u3 B

Then he looked again at the doll with sad eyes, very quietly.( c1 V" ]1 o' e! V8 k

I quickly reached for my wallet and said to the boy. ' Suppose we check again, just in case you do have enough money for the doll! ' '/ h0 I1 e; p  B$ O; b
我趕緊摸著錢包對小男孩說『我們再檢查一下,說不定您有足夠的錢買玩偶! 』0 {8 O9 Y( b5 B: Q2 U

'OK ' he said, ' I hope I do have enough. ' I added some of my money to his without him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough for the doll and even some spare money.$ |: i8 g1 x& B2 p
『好呀!』他說『我希望有足夠的錢』。沒讓他看見,我塞了一些錢到他的錢包中,我們開始數錢。買娃娃的錢足 了,甚之還有剩餘呢。

" p8 O3 M' h; U) LThe little boy said: ' Thank you God for giving me enough money! '
4 X% O8 D2 q( {; u. T9 K3 Z; X+ v小男孩說:『謝謝上帝給了我足 的錢!』1 I+ m: V! R2 p" G) s" X
  N9 K! ?) E6 o
Then he looked at me and added, ' I asked last night before I went to sleep for God to make sure I had enough money to buy this doll, so that mommy could give it to my sister. He heard me! ' '

'I also wanted to have enough money to buy a white rose for my mommy, but I didn ' t dare to ask God for too much. But He gave me enough to buy the doll and a white rose. ' '

( F* h& E( q" a& |( n( ^$ D2 z1 vA few minutes later, the old lady returned and I left with my basket., H3 {) W$ V3 h

I finished my shopping in a totally different state of mind from when I started.1 j# h6 s7 w( d9 Y

3 E( p( X/ C+ M5 ~8 l: q3 D% ^! LI couldn ' t get the little boy out of my mind.

4 B5 i  x# b3 H6 @: h8 m. OThen I remembered a local news paper article two days ago, which mentioned a drunk man in a truck, who hit a car occupied by a young$ T5 m! l9 `! o2 r# U) c$ y9 @+ z
woman and a little girl.
4 ~. z* \( {3 f) \1 G我想起兩天前當地報紙的一篇文章,提及一位醉酒卡車司機,撞上了一輛載著年輕少婦和一個小女孩的汽車。
! R7 S  }% I1 J+ K& x
! |3 Q8 Q' I; @  Y8 RThe little girl died right away, and the mother was left in a critical: \! X, i2 D' N+ I- Y9 i+ u
state. The family had to decide whether to pull the plug on the
( b8 }2 X5 I- V+ j$ H% B, Y; Dlife-sustaining machine, because the young woman would not be able to recover from the coma.( _* ]% l- ?2 d) o4 B
小女孩當場死亡,母親呈現彌留狀態。 這個家庭必須決定是否要拔出維持生命機器的插管2 s/ h0 j8 v" y' }0 |# S3 p

Was this the family of the little boy?

Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the news paper that the young woman had passed away.* I8 j+ w* m" R/ G0 _9 ^" L% _' f
碰到小男孩的二天之後,我看了報紙年輕少婦過世了。

' I* D+ D4 X1 W' G8 c0 Y4 VI couldn ' t stop myself as I bought a bunch of white roses and I went to the funeral home where the body of the young woman was for people to see and make last wishes before her burial.2 F& G' N1 i( R3 D, r$ k
我不自主的買了一束白玫瑰,來到喪家,年輕少婦的遺體在她埋葬前讓人瞻仰與最後許願。. k5 f( x" f8 p* z! h

8 P1 c) i, n" n, NShe was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rose in her hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her chest.! g1 k3 e+ S0 C0 ^( K
她在那裡,裝在棺木中,在她的手中握著一朵白玫瑰和小男孩的相片,娃娃則放置在她的胸口。
( i) x$ L/ W- f; T( i+ N- c 1 V& u+ A! w- Q4 ?6 ~: `
I left the place, teary-eyed, feeling that my life had been changed for ever.. The love that the little boy had for his mother and his sister is4 P8 j6 B& X3 D0 @1 {5 M4 r
still, to this day, hard to imagine.
/ H" g0 m6 X4 T. L  c' Q5 q9 S6 n我離開了這裡,眼淚奪眶而出,覺得我的人生已經永遠改變了。至今,小男孩對他母親和妹妹的愛,仍然難以想像。5 t3 v6 l( Y& j2 b( J, F+ c

对自己负责。对别人负责,对社会负责,请勿酒后驾车。因为这个小男孩有可能成为你家的孩子。
