Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)* \% r! b* J' p; o7 _+ n
% k& D% k: T# O' ?1 EKey Responsibilities Include' G9 ^( M I: ]2 I% i; e+ v
Activity Planning and Daily Activity
! L3 L5 H: a0 }( J" k" w1 z• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.& W" l2 N( L: h/ L
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring. 7 q# A% R. O) H2 D# e
• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, " [* g3 w1 D" A% x0 g2 r
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
6 I( w% o, P! x• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
+ h ^/ D h1 m7 d; @- F# r• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.; V, @/ B4 s; j- h- ?! W

The successful candidate will have:
, R9 G0 c+ R8 S$ X3 `5 X• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
& f/ ~* j1 i0 W! k• Experience with children
+ X+ w* i' I, q1 b$ p• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth 3 G4 M7 X9 R m* V9 l2 }& ~
• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
# m# i2 a0 f' e( Q• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.
