Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

Activity Planning and Daily Activity
- ]* ?3 ~4 X% o, m6 {' J5 G6 h. c• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
0 V4 e5 J6 B$ K q: z% j+ P• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring. & F4 {! }0 K% |( f
• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball,
0 m# @/ F5 j( i! ^- [3 Y• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
& B, o/ h/ \4 Q" z! }$ a% |# U• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.$ c* ]6 H3 f, z
• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.9 N% `' P$ p" X3 U! a/ M. B" W* E6 [

The successful candidate will have:
6 N& o! @1 Q6 E" ]' y• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
6 w, Y$ T" W0 j9 U5 L• Experience with children4 F3 i% u o' ]1 p' Q
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth 2 o5 C3 I/ {% [8 Z" |$ d
• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.8 N7 }, B3 v2 Z
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.' Q; n# L( P2 {% x
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources" R! Q" q- z' ~+ Q! a6 J$ M, T
• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
