Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff. ! A' s. ?4 v$ ~" q. } p' w, r; d
, c3 v" ]; T' D" n2 Multicultural Summer Camp Program Students 5 | ~+ h$ L: y+ B; r2 h
(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)

w3 ~3 {; L) [Activity Planning and Daily Activity& A: w6 ?" S$ G9 K! ^* q/ i
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.1 u' e" T0 N; W) O U
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring. ) J1 d. u# H0 U v& }
• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, , P$ a. v9 U3 {) {
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
$ e# r6 J. e. D' F' ?; r8 m& e- }• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
) T1 U0 M' S% S- W' b• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.

The successful candidate will have:/ x9 P# ?5 L4 I1 ^) `# l- p
• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting9 i# y* y3 l; c+ T+ l0 Z( H
• Experience with children, r7 [ G! A/ T8 A
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth ?* G; J6 ?5 i* D# o
• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
* l" a* ~$ `- X! s1 @* {• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.+ O1 y9 H1 j8 R8 u# g
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
+ ]9 I# ^$ {1 v, R• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check ( k0 s# |1 M. f, k- K9 f
• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check
% ]- i& o, K3 P" E Z Y4 y9 \1 t
