Change for Children is looking for a Program and Administrative Assistant who is highly motivated, has excellent ability to work independently, effectively prioritize tasks, be able to manage a flexible work plan and take direction from Program Managers to ensure timely and consistent administrative and program support to our vibrant organization.! i6 D0 N8 r! 7 n8 ?0 m. }; w0 }CHANGE FOR CHILDREN ASSOCIATION (CFCA) is an Alberta-based, charity with 33 years of experience working for sustainable, community development in Latin America and Africa and providing a comprehensive global education program in Canada. CFCA is lead by a volunteer Board of Directors and a small, flat-structured core staff which includes: International Projects Program Manager, Education/Public Engagement Program Manager and Funds Development Program Manager. CFCA’s projects and programming are funded by private donors, government grants, foundations, fundraising events, and campaigns.

Key administrative duties:

, C4 B" {6 f& i• Act as first point of contact for donors, partners, members, other stakeholders, and the general public.7 m% O0 V# O# H

• Complete data entry in various programs., E: ^" b% x* q

• Maintain an organized filing system for office records, meeting minutes, government registrations and donor records; Process annual government and charitable registrations forms.( {$ Q- h% [" `5 P" l( W

• Order and organize office supplies; Manage and maintain office systems and environment including policy and procedures manual and office operations manual.

• Manage all CFCA administrative communications such as liaising with financial institutions, service providers etc. related to administrative management.3 \' e! @; y- j: m  v; Z& H

Key program support duties

• Identify and maintain a current media list and database. File all media articles and press coverage of CFCA.

3 Y& m4 v9 N6 N1 F• Support the management of requests for CFCA information and resources at public events.

• Manage database and support distribution of print publications.

• Provide administrative support for public engagement events and mail outs.- K! a0 d; @  h6 F; W5 Y

• Weekly out-of-office errands as required (get cheques signed by Board members, drop off grant applications, and pick up office supplies). These errands will require personal transport.

Fund Development
! X# r; u/ W! K0 ~: k
  G8 I( m$ e' V0 ~) l• Provide logistical support for key fundraising events such as silent auctions

• In conjunction with the Funds Development Program Manager, maintain donor database and ensure delivery of timely charitable receipts.

' k5 Q2 f- ~0 h& W$ H) |• Coordinate volunteers for some fundraising events such as Casino and annual sales events.

• Support logistical work required for CFCA’s Annual General Meeting- Q: I4 G" s# K* O2 q: B  C' T8 B

- p- N' _) y  a! R9 g• Assist in administrative tasks related to donor recognition and event reconciliation as required.

, g# ]( S' D% @Skills and Qualifications: Education or work experience in office administration and experience with non-profit organizations an asset. Excellent communication and administrative skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; strong administrative and computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook or Outlook Express; Willingness to train on other relevant software; Very strong teamwork and time-management skills; commitment to social justice and sustainable community development.3 z+ @" D# v# x0 U& E! E: o: K

Term:

Starting salary is $18/ hour with benefits to be negotiated upon hire. Position will commence on November 01, 2009.
