, k& G0 L1 ?' o8 cChange for Children is looking for a Program and Administrative Assistant who is highly motivated, has excellent ability to work independently, effectively prioritize tasks, be able to manage a flexible work plan and take direction from Program Managers to ensure timely and consistent administrative and program support to our vibrant organization.9 ^0 p9 K# i. y3 v

CHANGE FOR CHILDREN ASSOCIATION (CFCA) is an Alberta-based, charity with 33 years of experience working for sustainable, community development in Latin America and Africa and providing a comprehensive global education program in Canada. CFCA is lead by a volunteer Board of Directors and a small, flat-structured core staff which includes: International Projects Program Manager, Education/Public Engagement Program Manager and Funds Development Program Manager. CFCA’s projects and programming are funded by private donors, government grants, foundations, fundraising events, and campaigns.& {" Q, l8 a# u4 F

• Complete data entry in various programs.: h) A, X/ [: e5 a

• Maintain an organized filing system for office records, meeting minutes, government registrations and donor records; Process annual government and charitable registrations forms.3 [  l) T9 |5 Q0 }

) e7 ^* O6 \' E- N• Order and organize office supplies; Manage and maintain office systems and environment including policy and procedures manual and office operations manual.0 b9 j$ O) g' Y7 v

• Maintain organizational calendar of events, meeting coordination and up to date membership lists of committees and groups.

• Support effective internal communication by recording and distributing all meeting minutes.

• Support maintenance of Human Resources records and the development of employee handbook.3 j1 B5 |% o% x' q

International Projects and Public Engagement/Communications:

• Maintain inventory of communication materials.
# f2 a, X' v2 b$ G
9 P& ^  F5 U" M0 N• Process volunteer applications, track volunteer hours, and assist with volunteer scheduling.

, \" W) J% {6 d9 c% G) Z* V) t• Identify and maintain a current media list and database. File all media articles and press coverage of CFCA.% @! z* g% f! M, _: O! v1 F  c$ `

• Support management of online publicity and communication tools.

• Support the promotion of CFCA events in Alberta through online and print publicity resources.

• Compile information packages for fundraising and promotional purposes.

• Provide administrative support for public engagement events and mail outs.

/ w/ m: l( q+ t: w, |• Weekly out-of-office errands as required (get cheques signed by Board members, drop off grant applications, and pick up office supplies). These errands will require personal transport.  U  F) U4 `; Y) E; W8 p9 r6 L

  f$ i2 B) S* c• Provide logistical support for key fundraising events such as silent auctions, G  M0 L; G8 m2 T3 K% _+ z& h

• In conjunction with the Funds Development Program Manager, maintain donor database and ensure delivery of timely charitable receipts.

• Coordinate volunteers for some fundraising events such as Casino and annual sales events.5 q* i6 d3 ]% O0 U

• Assist in administrative tasks related to donor recognition and event reconciliation as required.0 V/ N6 j, n) ?/ v6 @

Skills and Qualifications: Education or work experience in office administration and experience with non-profit organizations an asset. Excellent communication and administrative skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; strong administrative and computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook or Outlook Express; Willingness to train on other relevant software; Very strong teamwork and time-management skills; commitment to social justice and sustainable community development.3 p2 z+ c* O9 X+ G8 l

Spanish language abilities are an asset.

Term:

Starting salary is $18/ hour with benefits to be negotiated upon hire. Position will commence on November 01, 2009.
