Change for Children is looking for a Program and Administrative Assistant who is highly motivated, has excellent ability to work independently, effectively prioritize tasks, be able to manage a flexible work plan and take direction from Program Managers to ensure timely and consistent administrative and program support to our vibrant organization.9 b  ^  F# Z, D; L

CHANGE FOR CHILDREN ASSOCIATION (CFCA) is an Alberta-based, charity with 33 years of experience working for sustainable, community development in Latin America and Africa and providing a comprehensive global education program in Canada. CFCA is lead by a volunteer Board of Directors and a small, flat-structured core staff which includes: International Projects Program Manager, Education/Public Engagement Program Manager and Funds Development Program Manager. CFCA’s projects and programming are funded by private donors, government grants, foundations, fundraising events, and campaigns.3 y6 O$ v6 b7 V1 M! B4 b- V

Key administrative duties:

• Act as first point of contact for donors, partners, members, other stakeholders, and the general public.! y7 T! ^2 K+ ^+ a/ K" M

• Complete data entry in various programs.- Z  @$ |) M/ B+ E

• Maintain an organized filing system for office records, meeting minutes, government registrations and donor records; Process annual government and charitable registrations forms.5 g0 L# o& [) D: X2 q

• Order and organize office supplies; Manage and maintain office systems and environment including policy and procedures manual and office operations manual.

• Manage mail outs for fund development or education purposes with support of Program Managers.1 I' G) S) U% G6 j+ M" C

International Projects and Public Engagement/Communications:# I$ n, k7 U) u5 }$ v

  f6 Y( H4 @* F- A3 W• Maintain inventory of communication materials., l. i+ d/ U0 `) V7 k& O

; @5 a) \0 j! M# n% l$ j• Process volunteer applications, track volunteer hours, and assist with volunteer scheduling.* C# p2 |1 ^6 g; a! k' i- F3 T

. t( U7 f! a3 w8 x• Identify and maintain a current media list and database. File all media articles and press coverage of CFCA.

• Support the promotion of CFCA events in Alberta through online and print publicity resources.$ B  _. U( J& E! v7 l' q/ s

• Support the management of requests for CFCA information and resources at public events.( |3 n, R, Z, ?% @: B3 ^

• Compile information packages for fundraising and promotional purposes.

" `* [" I& u& o: Y0 e4 r• Provide administrative support for public engagement events and mail outs.

• Weekly out-of-office errands as required (get cheques signed by Board members, drop off grant applications, and pick up office supplies). These errands will require personal transport.# ]# P+ v3 Q4 b" Y  F2 B( v

Fund Development
" H$ h0 U' b- d5 }" \/ {* k3 s3 G) e4 \& l5 C
• Provide logistical support for key fundraising events such as silent auctions3 x; g1 z9 x1 ^

1 f5 L" _! r6 u( o3 z+ U; V$ F• In conjunction with the Funds Development Program Manager, maintain donor database and ensure delivery of timely charitable receipts.

• Coordinate volunteers for some fundraising events such as Casino and annual sales events.

Skills and Qualifications: Education or work experience in office administration and experience with non-profit organizations an asset. Excellent communication and administrative skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; strong administrative and computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook or Outlook Express; Willingness to train on other relevant software; Very strong teamwork and time-management skills; commitment to social justice and sustainable community development.8 E: m9 S9 t: K1 c& w! p  @+ o

2 ^2 J' S8 y& A% U1 MSpanish language abilities are an asset.

Term:

Starting salary is $18/ hour with benefits to be negotiated upon hire. Position will commence on November 01, 2009.
