This fall, the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC) will be launching a mentorship pilot program, where we aim to match skilled immigrants with mentors in their occupations.7 {$ V5 [ E' j8 G) \8 B
Eligibility Criteria# {6 S7 K5 \3 q7 z& _2 M5 ]
All potential mentee candidates are required to meet the following criteria:
5 G' w! m$ C5 M Y# a•An internationally educated professional living in Canada for three years or less
# C! k. v# w2 j$ l2 t* T4 g$ r•Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post secondary education1 d# k, c' A( w6 R, A4 k! |/ d
•Have Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher in oral English
& p8 U& e/ t- j4 M9 G•At least three years work experience in their area of expertise outside of Canada ! P5 @) x: m: N) s2 t
•No prior Canadian work experience in their field5 Q4 K7 v' z8 T2 D2 `
•Be unemployed or underemployed – working for 20 hours a week or less* Q& ?7 @* b' `# c7 y ^( t `
•Be eligible to work in Canada, _- _# D) u4 t+ G9 n2 E. M( J. x
•Have a job ready resume and have completed a job search workshop

Time Commitment9 ]1 e: a- K8 {: l2 `3 V0 T
The maximum number of hours involved in the ERIEC mentorship program is 6 hours a month for a total of 24 hours over 4 months. This works out to approximately one and a half hours per week.
