24 HOURS OVER 4 MONTHS ; ~( c* q9 H% U$ V; Y0 B4 p- aThis fall, the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC) will be launching a mentorship pilot program, where we aim to match skilled immigrants with mentors in their occupations.% Y u. D& K) c# t Eligibility Criteria' }. |. ?7 L1 c% I- j
All potential mentee candidates are required to meet the following criteria: X/ N, {$ w% s) i( T+ ^9 s1 i
•An internationally educated professional living in Canada for three years or less ; l# ?# t/ D5 J5 M+ J•Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post secondary education0 f7 {% x+ m$ M" @0 i- {
•Have Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher in oral English1 Y8 _! J! @9 |9 X; N5 ^' o m8 f
•At least three years work experience in their area of expertise outside of Canada 4 w: K$ \7 ?& ?! K) V•No prior Canadian work experience in their field / w9 C9 E. d6 m) P3 Q•Be unemployed or underemployed – working for 20 hours a week or less ! |6 D- c! J$ C8 h& ^•Be eligible to work in Canada& M2 }0 _# C& `3 {
•Have a job ready resume and have completed a job search workshop 9 I; w) r# `" A7 l6 W- X. I•Lack access to professional networks 9 a# L6 j' U( [1 w7 D& m- V•Be motivated to participate and be open to learning * ~( l% l; ~% Z; pTime Commitment9 R# ] T% s; t0 b" {# X1 o# \6 A
The maximum number of hours involved in the ERIEC mentorship program is 6 hours a month for a total of 24 hours over 4 months. This works out to approximately one and a half hours per week. ! h9 Y! ^9 b5 c' }; t( YMentees who meet the program requirements are welcome from any profession and must complete the Mentee Application Form.
