2 Positions: Sessional Researchers. General Description: These temporary full-time positions will support the research of Alberta’s NDP Opposition during the spring sitting of the Legislature. Salary: $25.16 hr. Alberta’s NDP Opposition is an employment equity employer. Employment will run Feb. through May 2010.$ [: K, D4 S' P# G. J# y8 w. _

& I' c2 }) b6 e. i" f1 H+ ?Duties: under the direction of the Research Director, analyze and provide factually accurate/timely information to Alberta’s NDP Opposition MLAs on provincial issues, government bills, motions, budget estimates, private member’s bills/motions; assist in the preparation of policy materials and speaking notes for use by MLAs in the Legislative Assembly; carry out administrative and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: demonstrated research skills including relevant post-secondary education and experience in researching policy issues; research skills and strategic thinking ability, including the ability to organize and interpret complex data and present it in a clear and succinct format; a thorough knowledge of Alberta’s political landscape and an understanding of the Alberta NDP; ability to work under tight timelines and shifting priorities as part of a highly motivated team; strong computer skills including: MS-Office applications, word processing, email, and demonstrated ability in using the internet as a research tool. , `& M5 k) S( R1 U4 i; `2 g8 u
