A baby food recall is underway as a popular Heinz baby cereal may contain elevated levels of a mycotoxin.& O! a9 D7 e* B4 k. @4 a% A
* U- w, {: w; e. ^( `$ sThe Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Heinz Canada are warning parents about ‘Heinz Mixed Cereal, Stage 2, From 6 Months’. The best before date codes located on the top left hand corner of the package are ‘BB/MA 10 DE 26’ and ‘BB/MA 10 DE 29’.
; \; \! L: A8 D2 I+ eNo illnesses have been reported from consuming the cereal. Heinz Canada says that the cereal may contain elevated levels of Ochratoxin A (OTA).

; c3 A7 I2 g% h _5 Y0 cIn a news release, CFIA says Ochratoxin A is a mycotoxin produced by fungi that can grow in food such as grains, grapes and coffee beans and has been classified by as a possible human carcinogen.! o' E% p# `% m
2 `' P# P: l6 F3 }6 H) [CFIA says that if a child has consumed the food, there is no need to seek medical attention since the substance is not harmful when eaten as part of a healthy diet over the short term.
