In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. # o2 @8 F/ m! G6 j0 ^
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
2 @0 M4 b) a1 f* F; T4 i, x- XAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
* J! v2 p' S8 SOversees the financial and human resource management of the service. ) t$ i/ f# l7 N4 R* h
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
; o) n( n1 l/ W4 }( dMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. " M0 K6 [) Q) O1 I
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
" K6 E% i9 ]8 K4 B# [Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
' O& a& h. F% m/ r9 ^Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.

Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. & I6 J* f+ P" G x
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.

% s) F6 Q5 A- ^A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. % J- y4 Y% W, z9 I0 ~( \ c9 w i
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. & o/ i% {( Q- j0 w9 X9 Y' P
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
" L+ s* d1 g L" F6 p: X9 E8 o1 pPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. ! T1 \" D9 z* L! i1 _! l
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. $ K3 ~* |, `7 F: G0 J) Z
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
