0 I1 @( A% g# t. D6 D. n% |( \' xIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. , d6 F. g6 ^ y0 Y5 j7 c
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
. g: [. M, ]- E/ t+ l& B" z- ]3 MAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
( S1 O j1 ]! A" l, aOversees the financial and human resource management of the service. ; h# |9 u: v; Z/ c
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. 8 l! o- @! ]5 o; x
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
: ]( Z: h; z; g- b' ?& s4 hExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. 2 y$ e0 N9 _5 J! i6 k" C# a
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. ! e9 J# w0 i; E% M4 b9 ?
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. # e# M) L7 ~; c9 d% z8 r; [* c# M
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. " g- d7 u; ~- A' x. i: A
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
- V" f; H/ @. ]1 BEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. & {. k; c o9 L# B
Qualifications
G0 ~( G" y* m- vA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. / t F7 c N7 m4 E+ W) F
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. 8 S" a* ^ G" E) t* n. d F8 q
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. ) s2 K5 ^/ p O
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
: K+ F' E- J" {Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. 2 K5 L: T! S- F8 @4 _5 b
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
