Responsibilities
4 W* }+ U+ d; C+ s# jIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. $ f# t0 i, B& T% f7 V8 W
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
" n% h9 L' L5 k8 k- h. O* aAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
) E4 e, Q1 k+ V3 jOversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
% y, q6 G7 K6 |& B6 V# jMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
2 n. s3 N: {% x6 C' XMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. / {$ e0 {6 ~' k0 r" A
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. " ^9 n& _. M/ b& i% T* t
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. 4 k" V: g# p$ E. H
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. $ Y$ ^. d4 o$ K4 l5 N7 U* [
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. ' N/ O( X v/ X6 P8 g% G
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. & _9 V4 g' |( T
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. 0 T* l' z5 F# O9 H% e
Qualifications 2 m8 I# f d7 X; l. P7 q
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
$ L0 G& t" r; H# @Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. ( U7 `9 y. e7 S! z9 N
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
, v3 Y. A. w0 o9 ^Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. # k! h2 A6 C. v* y
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
. c0 F. c# E2 U& gProficiency in a second language is considered an asset. / ~( q9 L4 m$ W. \
