In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. % y# `! q; l9 z z$ [1 T! d( p# u
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
; c% p* W1 ?% k# X4 N0 B9 a& b# {Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. 0 f& \, }, E9 t* i8 S; i- `9 m
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
3 t9 t+ d4 E. x0 V' y* zMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
5 S" e! W# S P% ]Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
" f Z1 R) a; z) N- `: O" n+ n1 iExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. 9 R9 W' m p3 C
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. 3 p/ H" h K5 e2 m! C) `0 e
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. 1 \( r g( O# P. j" p5 ^' ^
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
7 a9 K4 u( J! m1 x2 VIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. - A' p1 _: A/ Z" s" {
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. ; G) x( [( {4 v& L3 H2 ^
Qualifications 4 i" R2 A" Q l
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. , G" P8 `' ^$ F S* y. b
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. 8 [5 @& U# ~: P% k f
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. m1 R1 ]7 U. T2 h& f
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
- T+ i+ N; O1 O0 I+ t+ CIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
0 E6 I+ w2 i: d. I6 u! R- qProficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
