. o/ N) p* @9 T6 cIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
% {. U; E6 D( C1 sPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
1 `$ U" G# h6 S7 g: a3 o6 rAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
# Q' i! X) Z0 R- h; s  pOversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
. i% c1 K1 t) c0 }  eMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
; I1 S' B( Y- t" G0 GExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
0 c9 j' C) Z( J# \0 eEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
- p+ s! M" u/ H& H( j+ t  uAssumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
- C4 {4 Y6 A& W& `- vEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.
! d& v; H6 n5 e) p3 R) Y2 cQualifications
- D7 v: T8 I. j, RA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
# s) {! @: ~; R! f; [, `8 ePost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
) X! A$ Z" h: P) _" r+ V3 I0 U( aPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
) u& J3 V) n# V! T4 KIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
