) _& }% j( z. J Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or
2 @+ L" h, f; x' kcommunity cultural brokers from New Canadian Health Network partner organizations to
# @! T- h" t7 Iprovide supplemental support to newcomers who have complex needs. 9 k, u; a/ h5 z( Y z1 ~
! O. b0 I# ], N4 V8 r! w Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services.
9 f! o: r0 n! [: \The position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff, ; U6 e4 x& Y6 O8 A1 W* S
newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social 3 W( G1 o5 X/ S+ ?
Worker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as 4 F* j, I. P1 a! J/ I
needed. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for
9 H$ d; f% e4 j- I7 n- }0 @newcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial ! |: Z6 h0 W r
assessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-

Providing holistic information or advocacy services for immigrants and refugees served. 0 @* Q0 l. K, \* b" g
Developing of social networks and community supports for newcomer families.

Work in partnership with settlement workers or cultural brokers to provide supplemental 4 w/ _) s2 z2 E' E8 w# Q

Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers. 9 q" v! G% h) L! K0 A S8 a

Qualification 1 x0 b; q8 x" d7 M5 v- [6 @
: E5 V% [/ l" x7 [( P Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and . _0 ]2 a) A4 Q
experience in Social Work or related human service fields.
* c& J1 s% ] N4 y$ `5 s0 ?- I Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family : b0 K/ S( M6 o- i3 P9 I
support needs , \! {. @- R- r5 W# I. e
Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications
. b- v" `" }$ B- r& O" w; e Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages 5 V1 O: x) f4 \5 d9 g
Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate T2 ?5 d+ ~% c; ~, T+ Y
insurance coverage for work

Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience working in a related field - k; ~" T. f$ r2 a3 } `* F
