Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or

provide supplemental support to newcomers who have complex needs. 2 O/ N! X% z( B" m

Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services. 8 v* Q/ y. \& J5 V3 r
The position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff, 2 j( b# x3 L: H3 t
newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social
, m. `6 u0 c6 t6 k& UWorker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as
( u3 V: g8 {7 j& m z1 q+ ~4 Q; Pneeded. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for % L) z9 I' d- u6 K+ Y
newcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial
: j8 r* h& y5 E) k9 u1 f! a, ^4 M6 kassessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-9 B+ I# c% x/ t" `# t* i% P% A
centered delivery model.

Work in partnership with settlement workers or cultural brokers to provide supplemental

Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers.

Qualification
* t3 L9 H7 a' {0 F6 r. v9 l# m - { X9 C, `. y0 j* _7 w5 \
Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and # f4 r1 P' Z; q6 B* R5 S
experience in Social Work or related human service fields. 7 H) m$ o% H5 N
Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family 0 f# c( F( A* _: ^: @2 L' n5 E
support needs
. _ t5 q7 o0 b* M( G7 u/ ? Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications 0 e4 \( L" ?- D5 r# d; z% f% A
Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages & B4 y* h g8 S: U3 T. c
Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate
