Primary purpose: The Social Worker works in partnership with settlement workers or

: W" h+ x8 n+ i Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services.
$ K R) x- G6 W7 k: TThe position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff, 1 d5 P. t, n: X+ e) C9 g
newcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social + L7 W! e0 p+ B" S
Worker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as
7 |3 n u) \( ^4 R6 H3 w- qneeded. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for + f ]( z; b. T( i% |4 G, S+ I% N
newcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial

Providing holistic information or advocacy services for immigrants and refugees served.

Provide intake, needs assessment, referral, case plans and action plans to support 0 X( Q, a8 @7 L) l

Work in partnership with settlement workers or cultural brokers to provide supplemental ) X! N6 _: _* x- i
case plan support for clients who have complex needs. : y' [; N5 x; p* {/ r3 z6 u
Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers. ) }' B# \+ U+ L$ x# `( y
Treat all clients with dignity and patience in order to listen deeply and give thoughtful

Qualification
9 W- i) u! S) s$ T . x) j% o) K5 E6 h. F0 a
Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and
# k' H1 G* i* Q- e2 v0 j6 y" C$ _experience in Social Work or related human service fields. / _( X! L7 d' U( l
Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family
% o+ ]4 f6 A, p( asupport needs 5 ?) r$ t: ^" n8 T/ p4 ^9 h; s
Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications
* z! g& H+ F9 @0 M: R Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages
! ~5 Y! X- n# r% r* H, @ Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate
( m4 ^2 V* m! P& cinsurance coverage for work / i6 t- u. [. Z: r/ A/ [; i

Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience working in a related field
