provide supplemental support to newcomers who have complex needs.

Nature of Work: The Social Worker will report to the manager of mental health services.
4 @" y" b9 \0 g/ B+ C& U+ ?The position builds working relationships with New Canadian Health Network partners’ staff,
3 h/ V- i- x5 M5 C, u4 A$ [5 Pnewcomers accessing these services and other institutions and service providers. The Social % q' \- q( v S: D$ i7 C
Worker will assist in case planning, conferencing and providing support and advocacy as
; a7 ]) v; W! Nneeded. As required, the Social Worker will assist in accessing community supports for
9 j; ], c$ ]. Q+ d znewcomers and their families. The Social Worker provides holistic and flexible initial
1 l Z5 J* k5 ~. k2 I8 Nassessment of life circumstances, needs, goals and aspirations and adheres to the client-

Providing holistic information or advocacy services for immigrants and refugees served. ; l" n7 _6 R$ y: h. L) W8 _& M

Provide intake, needs assessment, referral, case plans and action plans to support $ r6 V& c% j. ^) ~# D* A
newcomers in settling and fully participating in community.

Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers. $ c6 E) n8 Y. e* ^

$ e& V. Z; u* n& L Relevant undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent combination of education and
# Y2 U F7 G! i6 texperience in Social Work or related human service fields. & w/ n. B2 f: h1 B: v( Y# C* r
Extensive knowledge of community resources, including in depth understanding of family
% X7 D& K6 b! s; h+ p2 t& Isupport needs ) ]$ W" c1 [9 ?. B
Experience/facility with MS Office computer applications # p+ p7 d3 d; @
Proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in other languages s+ L q3 D2 ?3 N9 L
Possess a valid class 5 driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate 1 Y' ~6 l2 O4 _
insurance coverage for work
