FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

1 I0 O$ q! i) y. }# W3 s4 q1 C: q• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
, f2 R7 o% }* h. z9 R• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
Bi /Reporting/ETL
/ J( p8 O( H4 r• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
# P, s0 I+ [7 b7 _• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
: G! N+ ?3 u1 U# ]• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
9 G3 W9 h- ]8 P+ q- E• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
3 \/ `; {& ?* j• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
* ?% n; ~6 d6 a# {0 _9 U+ A& l• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
8 r2 ~7 z5 `$ g( n8 V• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
" \7 u+ C; H3 P9 V- Q' y5 \* K• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
  g/ r3 V0 V6 L! O& a$ |$ m• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
* R9 k+ \5 r6 z/ C$ r• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
