FUNCTION:
7 \. J# N7 [9 f% {9 e: h; |As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enterprise Data
, D6 V  g& z% J$ ~/ Y& B• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.

• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
# b2 k* ?# J1 |  C• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
' L4 a6 P( B) d• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
6 G/ Z. U4 i8 P' C! U; s4 w( R• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
: o7 b. L/ T% ?# k• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
9 Y4 o+ O" k' b6 l. Z• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
& u& l2 d/ m8 G5 O* N+ M• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
: K9 T9 u8 R5 m) Z( m; i• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
) d$ L' K! C& m. k7 T! Q4 A# b/ ?0 x• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
% ^% m7 s) j9 U. n( D• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
& j3 r/ s1 z2 X# e) }• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
