FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
4 O: ^9 G" O# [3 k" c• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.

• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.

6 o  N: L% Y- c5 \; W. }# F6 C" e• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.

. i: r, ~# B) H0 O• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
+ F! C. C6 f6 C3 b& x: y• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

% L/ {3 `% |  t) e% \/ ^8 ySKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
" V; j& r$ Z. a5 I# i( `0 |• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
' F7 D  a9 v: \' ]9 T2 S1 n- I& g• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
& Q4 ^. n" r% D% u$ [• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
% S% B* S  u( m• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
2 I$ f- J: G* C3 b$ E9 [• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
