FUNCTION:
  N1 M9 S, X- f' H  pAs a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

# G3 T. C$ C1 Z; g• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
# B* S! O: V3 c$ v$ R! y• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.

7 z: w5 n. l9 S1 U% s& a0 \• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
  A# E7 P& F+ T' z  R. q$ t• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
. L4 |0 e8 ~, J/ E• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
6 B0 V% p& [$ I! W• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
1 I4 R) P0 H( R. J9 s• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
" `  @* ]# D' t- ?, j• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
5 Y! b7 J- I# c4 |; g• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
/ I* t% b$ S! w- ~5 M. [% }# c• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
/ G8 k# f" Q3 w• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
" z- g5 d9 ~8 f: V6 k, N4 {/ g• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
, S. ^' Y  z1 d  E3 A• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
