Youth Worker

Key Responsibilities & Duties:* H- c7 X0 k0 ?& O$ ?: _5 M9 z
( w9 a8 M  b7 S% o+ I" C/ P$ s7 z
 Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
( q1 E; `% {. G! E+ i: T2 B' d Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.- ~* U: N% l, {% Z' T! t  H$ J
 Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
+ |1 c4 v( ?# w7 C Completing required paperwork." G- V2 k% ~9 c; H3 x
 Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.+ [4 b& z0 c# O- J% O8 p
 Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.) ~6 z8 n; t( @
 Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information. 0 l8 y, P" T3 O0 ^: Z2 l9 X
 Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.

 Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.# R; r8 }; [! r* i3 m- V5 R# x5 o
 Reporting to the Program Manager on a Regular basis.0 ]7 o) |1 f+ U6 x2 \

Qualifications:$ J- Q- _2 Y: g* [! e* C* i! G
4 C  x* o' [& @) g  X$ S$ v
 Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience." O* g4 x: y7 L4 F( r6 |
 Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
4 ^( L5 X+ W* W Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
7 o9 ^5 D0 a  b Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.8 j5 c1 q4 M6 ?5 t  \
 Knowledge of community resources.
7 W1 w2 |0 r# {% { Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
- n' b2 E$ }& x! @. y Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training. 2 t! k: c0 t& O

. N3 P& N$ {! [+ C' c0 hPosition:6 I0 W  |6 c0 ~5 A
This is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; evening and weekend shifts; at an hourly rate of $12.50; starting February 8 2006. $ v' q8 D. i, Y, W0 U
There is a 3-month probationary period. 7 U  z8 Z2 V% ], o1 g2 ~
