Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers (EMCN)

Responsibilities
 Complete comprehensive intake and needs assessment process and develop referral and case plans to support newcomers in fully settling and participating in the community  
 Continue to follow-up with newcomers, EMCN staff and other service providers to ensure newcomers’ needs are met     
 Provide holistic counselling to individuals and families, including hands-on support with accessing resources and resolving difficult issues
# ?4 N  U: V% |. C Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers
 Research and maintain current information about programs and resources available in the community
 Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with staff of programs and services in the city and ensure EMCN clients access the most appropriate solutions to meet their needs
# K1 T8 s. `1 W% C) D Work as a team with EMCN staff to ensure holistic supports are provided to newcomers.

Qualifications
4 F+ r6 |; P2 J  C Social work degree or diploma
% c- @# A% a( w' N Current RSW designation preferred   
 Demonstrated experience with holistic case management and supportive counselling
 Knowledge of and experience in accessing a wide range of programs, services and supports available in the City  
. W9 r% s/ h# `; @; `7 d7 S Ability to effectively listen, assess needs and guide people in a supportive manner
 Sensitivity to cross-cultural issues
" S3 d; w* K6 e* Q5 `, n Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
4 P7 M! Y4 w1 v0 ]0 S3 N) l$ e Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
