Responsibilities
* h8 s( Y' E* c) g6 |/ L( e Complete comprehensive intake and needs assessment process and develop referral and case plans to support newcomers in fully settling and participating in the community  
 Continue to follow-up with newcomers, EMCN staff and other service providers to ensure newcomers’ needs are met     
! W6 r- u% O2 y Provide holistic counselling to individuals and families, including hands-on support with accessing resources and resolving difficult issues
+ f& p1 z: m5 L. w Advocate on newcomers’ behalf to programs, institutions and service providers
 Research and maintain current information about programs and resources available in the community
 Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with staff of programs and services in the city and ensure EMCN clients access the most appropriate solutions to meet their needs
 Work as a team with EMCN staff to ensure holistic supports are provided to newcomers.

Qualifications
 Social work degree or diploma
2 I- w1 K( e8 h  ^ Current RSW designation preferred   
  x$ G+ E, s5 F2 @ Demonstrated experience with holistic case management and supportive counselling
' P: ^8 {& A4 W Knowledge of and experience in accessing a wide range of programs, services and supports available in the City  
 Ability to effectively listen, assess needs and guide people in a supportive manner
8 a% g. O( n- z! Y8 c% W Sensitivity to cross-cultural issues
0 \: p, I- K/ f1 ^5 Z  ]8 `2 { Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
 Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
 Ability to perform variety of diverse tasks under time pressure.


EMCN is a community agency that provides a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees. Further information is available at www.emcn.ab.ca.  Salary for the position begins at $34 879. A cost-shared benefits plan, including RRSP, is available.
