The Coordinator of the Multicultural Coalition8 Y* r0 y1 ?3 h1 E; Q6 A8 `, y% |
Roles and Functions: }0 `) ^- b* c2 C) J' H" T
The Coordinator is responsible for the over-all management and operations of the- ~( S( o) d6 p+ V$ v- d3 c' t
organization. The Coordinator defines the objectives, policies and goals for the9 o/ L3 q2 \7 l
operations of the organization staff within the general board policies. He/she has
8 l* `( X- J2 e3 L$ s2 ithe important responsibility of accurately reporting on financial progress,
j. G# ~* r. L# G2 M6 }operational concerns, organizational problems and accomplishments at regular4 D+ x% k0 F6 @, s
board meetings. Short-range planning is the responsibility of the Coordinator and is Z# p4 X2 L8 D5 F
conducted within the policy guidelines of the board. The Coordinator is an
0 z3 u7 `1 j) o0 C# S* k7 p, q. Femployee of the board and therefore should not be part of the board which hires
/ [3 M, j" |3 H# W* H( _+ ~% hstaff and sets their salaries. However, the Coordinator should be required to attend
* f: m, \0 ^& U& V9 u; [* Z+ vall board meetings and be an active, nonvoting participant.

The specific functions of the coordinator include the following:' x7 r/ {4 N0 _: W
1. Provides over-all coordination of Coalition activities in consultation with the) q- x5 m7 X. _8 G o$ S' M" J% B) `
officers of the Coalition' N2 J j( U4 v. s9 o# y
2. Builds and sustain relationships and partnerships with ethnocultural
! t" g1 E3 u! Y" H! e5 \6 lorganizations, immigrant and refugee communities, voluntary organizations
$ U6 v1 D1 w1 T- }5 z7 M/ land public institutions
- S1 g8 n2 T2 [, x4 A( e$ m3. Seeks opportunities to ensure sustainability of the organization through2 q/ Z% i7 ~. }
funding opportunities and maintaining initiatives
* {7 @5 H/ ~1 f: w! O! ?4. Liaise with funders, public and non-profit organizations and community
5 f; E; x0 }( h$ J4 y3 Forganizations as well as the media and build strategic relationships with+ C L# k) l- a1 M+ \; ^+ l

5. Promotes transformative leadership among formal and informal community

1. Maintain an adequate bookkeeping and accounting system; provide for its. p2 ~$ S5 v2 L4 g8 B: g, ` D
regular examination by competent outside auditors, selected by the board of# Y% Q! g2 ]# X* R0 a3 a4 T5 _8 b
directors, and at the regular annual meeting, present a statement to the0 `) X( E9 h0 ? N5 A
members of the Coalition’s financial condition.. Q: J9 m8 k0 v& S/ K9 k3 ^* g8 o
2. Recruits and hires staff for programs and other initiatives of the; }" p( P+ a& V, A) y

; j; E4 _( I2 w- ~All operating decisions, employing and supervising personnel, choosing ways to+ C6 ]" j2 l* q3 I$ n
implement policies, planning the Coalition’s day-to-day activities, and coordinating
$ p3 n2 U$ Y( `0 e8 h2 s1 x6 k" Woperations are a part of the Coordinator’s responsibility.8 B ]- }3 A) y3 m( [
The Coordinator shares some responsibilities jointly with the board, such as longrange planning. The Coordinator usually provides the initiative and then assists the board in decision-making. The purpose, future directions, broad basic policies, and+ r2 u! n5 n% @" V8 r
aims and objectives of the organizations are decided upon by this process. It should7 i; X% {+ k5 H! M/ E2 E
be noted that the board members make the policy decisions guided by membership$ r6 h& p" v% V- _) K2 T
participation and the Coordinator should confine his or her activities to helping and
4 T& w$ Y) M! R, t3 S0 ~facilitating this process with the Board. The Coordinator attends all board of
' ^! o' j; ]0 v C- |directors' meetings and make available a business report and a monthly financial
9 j2 _# k9 h" C; b' N5 t5 hstatement as a minimum requirement. She/he brings to the board's attention all/ n) ]8 s M" X! f# G) ~6 }: p- V: ^
matters requiring board consideration and action. She/he confers with the board of
7 l% b1 T/ i9 v2 z! {1 Udirectors on the development of new policies and appraises the effectiveness of5 s5 V; \( d* k8 W5 K) D0 J
policies already adopted

Pay Range & Terms
