that we cannot support imposing a UBB business model on wholesale Internet

an increasingly important part of everyday life—including driving

! Q v/ T! c1 K+ ^2 H8 V& V- rCanada’s first comprehensive Digital Economy Strategy, we need to look
% V" w# o9 O2 @( o5 O# V: P! D- b" G9 Wcarefully at how issues like UBB affect the big picture. We will be* D+ _: w& Z% R- B( R" `
guided by our long-standing policies of encouraging competition and2 I6 L* q% }: U, H- }+ ^/ @
investment, increasing consumer choice, minimizing regulation and allowing7 ? l7 T- @1 ~
market forces to prevail. , J7 {/ V2 u1 H {! W
4 P) `0 u1 U) D8 A- Y5 gThe Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has
& ^! Z* S8 `& ?chosen to examine these concerns that the government shares with a large1 K4 _4 V* b5 l4 E. t& J
number of Canadians. Details of the CRTC consultation are available at

) L) E( |* V) H' ? ^! Y* n6 y+ `line with the best interests of Canadian consumers and encourages
! N( e! x. d+ |3 ]; C& R bcompetition among internet service providers. I will be recommending that0 d1 M& r: b4 \
