In 2008, SEDI founded the Canadian Centre for Financial Literacy (CCFL) which is a national network dedicated to supporting financial literacy capacity building and knowledge mobilization. It acts as a national ‘hub’ for financial literacy in Canada.

7 U. X* {! ?4 Q; H+ {SEDI is hiring an in-house financial literacy trainer/coordinator who will help build financial literacy programs across Canada. : b; @9 O/ E# g1 b# p6 N( P
SEDI is staffed to:
! l* e" [! b& Y, Y8 T& D" V1 H• conduct socio-economic market and policy research 4 `# @5 ^" }; G! ~5 A
• act as a knowledge broker between communities and policy makers, and influence public policies that affect low income earners
+ M# \8 \3 T$ C• develop socio-economic programs and manage their implementation
& J; z$ r: k x, `' {! \- o9 [& \• partner with other nonprofits across Canada to deliver programs 2 @. X6 ?7 S' w8 \( v9 f S, z- @
• provide training and capacity building to frontline nonprofits
9 y$ I; _) d. ], T H/ N6 G• work strategically with the public and private sectors to develop innovative responses 9 I& C% s$ F: @& H4 c `6 `
• to work to reduce economic vulnerability in Canada
! S* F: ~$ T' E X: |, gPrimary Responsibilities and Activities:
& k+ C9 f# C- u' L" S• Facilitation of forums and training of trainers sessions (basic financial literacy) with staff at partner community organizations across Canada
! x( r: p1 p: t, J• Assistance in the development and design of financial literacy tools (ie- curriculum, videos etc)
" l& k; u5 S! w; e' h/ i* y• Coordination of activities and communication with delivery sites of the CCFL as required
' T1 L: S3 x3 J• Working with the website and communications teams on CCFL communications activities
6 _/ M# _- u, Y# ~) y• Working with evaluation and management information systems team 2 u4 J; Z& l" i* |9 X
• Other CCFL duties (reporting, evaluation, communications) as required ; K& M, N0 f- A4 a) e, c0 _, c
Other Activities:
4 U5 Z8 y/ t- R }4 m, v! n• Providing support to implement research and evaluation activities, solve implementation challenges, and fine-tune strategies 7 M- \) Z$ c- q& J$ g
• Organizing and monitoring the collection of all evaluation forms, surveys, and reports from project partners
, A1 K) T; \! c4 o |% n• Working with in-house Management Information System staff to facilitate data input, analysis and reporting 4 B& a+ c- k4 J# O
• Writing and editing of research and evaluation reports, project reports and internal progress reports
, b& G4 R5 Z. V• Participating in the development of Internet-based strategies for sharing findings/effective practices and for promoting learning " l% k' m6 x$ p; G
Primary Qualifications: 3 M+ r2 o6 J4 t- u1 H
• Demonstrated group facilitation experience
' y' l" b' `* i; d4 C/ c• Strong communication and public speaking skills; including comfortable with new technology and social media # b* r( p- z$ Y- U
• Able to travel across Canada to conduct training
) Q9 l {8 N+ u& R+ v' Z7 \• Entrepreneurial spirit, can proactively identify prospective opportunities
& X7 f9 A0 N- M2 y2 R6 m• Highly motivated self-starter with team orientation; ability to build committed and collaborative teams
- N- m8 u! R! X+ ~3 G R• Passion, enthusiasm and deep commitment to the SEDI mission, vision, values and goals
" H$ b8 Z! \0 ]- m• Demonstrated understanding of basic financial literacy concepts
$ r! {) G) t) u- n! C• Experience in working with economically vulnerable Canadians and the organizations that serve them
6 |0 Q# n1 N2 d• Experience working directly with community organizations that serve segments of the population such as: youth, seniors, women, aboriginal peoples, newcomers to Canada etc
D. F1 z# ]$ c! F• Experience in ‘training of trainers’ activities or education

• Team player, able to deal effectively with multi-sectoral partners

• Computer skills: Word, ACCESS, Power Point etc. + v9 {/ Y, Q1 k; H
• Ability in French (both written and oral) is an asset # M& W9 ], }( d& A8 [
• Policy research skill set is an asset
