In 2008, SEDI founded the Canadian Centre for Financial Literacy (CCFL) which is a national network dedicated to supporting financial literacy capacity building and knowledge mobilization. It acts as a national ‘hub’ for financial literacy in Canada.

7 R( ]( R# t6 J3 P# ?. \SEDI is hiring an in-house financial literacy trainer/coordinator who will help build financial literacy programs across Canada.

) g1 E$ ]" b5 J1 s) W3 ~• conduct socio-economic market and policy research
9 Q+ J/ q- Q, @• act as a knowledge broker between communities and policy makers, and influence public policies that affect low income earners
, K. D0 a( @, F' X2 A• develop socio-economic programs and manage their implementation 6 y9 ^& e; { p6 J2 {
• partner with other nonprofits across Canada to deliver programs ' U1 n$ |* _) M# W- l4 i
• provide training and capacity building to frontline nonprofits 6 I* U9 m1 P- i# j, R/ a
• work strategically with the public and private sectors to develop innovative responses 7 @8 x) p5 V8 d& ~0 h
• to work to reduce economic vulnerability in Canada 1 h+ W/ F! h+ I0 W8 ~& f
Primary Responsibilities and Activities: 3 v. U% J) r/ a: e2 g3 ^
• Facilitation of forums and training of trainers sessions (basic financial literacy) with staff at partner community organizations across Canada
& O+ A& Q; O6 X$ [$ F0 n• Assistance in the development and design of financial literacy tools (ie- curriculum, videos etc) 7 f# V7 P- C4 O8 q3 r' z
• Coordination of activities and communication with delivery sites of the CCFL as required 4 x# ]) ^! L: d
• Working with the website and communications teams on CCFL communications activities * ~3 @9 k5 s( |. `7 l g% L9 K; q
• Working with evaluation and management information systems team
+ Q' w( z1 L: s8 m5 B• Other CCFL duties (reporting, evaluation, communications) as required
$ }# s$ S6 w2 ^; S: P2 p1 BOther Activities:
9 L0 E1 [8 g: k7 I0 W: r• Providing support to implement research and evaluation activities, solve implementation challenges, and fine-tune strategies 8 O2 J; j, E. Y2 z
• Organizing and monitoring the collection of all evaluation forms, surveys, and reports from project partners
* D$ f/ }9 b2 |: V7 W0 e: B• Working with in-house Management Information System staff to facilitate data input, analysis and reporting , H2 R; {/ v" b) n- E0 ^/ T
• Writing and editing of research and evaluation reports, project reports and internal progress reports
, A2 P8 q9 J2 n• Participating in the development of Internet-based strategies for sharing findings/effective practices and for promoting learning ( t! M1 Q% F1 G6 D+ [. ]
Primary Qualifications: # [5 I# K5 {( d2 R- E
• Demonstrated group facilitation experience & Y' A% t) ]. y' b8 w! p+ t
• Strong communication and public speaking skills; including comfortable with new technology and social media
& K7 Z6 s: L2 v. R8 @5 w4 }2 w• Able to travel across Canada to conduct training
; j0 [8 x( ^" V) u• Entrepreneurial spirit, can proactively identify prospective opportunities
9 |/ U1 K, m- V6 T2 H% Z$ S• Highly motivated self-starter with team orientation; ability to build committed and collaborative teams / J7 y: z0 o* Z
• Passion, enthusiasm and deep commitment to the SEDI mission, vision, values and goals 1 q. N( l% y; i0 j5 X
• Demonstrated understanding of basic financial literacy concepts : j) h, W/ j5 D% V
• Experience in working with economically vulnerable Canadians and the organizations that serve them ) P. G: `: v, \# T' @* K1 W
• Experience working directly with community organizations that serve segments of the population such as: youth, seniors, women, aboriginal peoples, newcomers to Canada etc - D0 y h9 j$ ]6 q* v) a
• Experience in ‘training of trainers’ activities or education 3 e8 ?% ?, N# l D
• Content / curriculum development experience 7 ^8 i; ^4 ?7 {$ G" M8 h
• Team player, able to deal effectively with multi-sectoral partners . v2 |- s' {0 x% p; o( v
• Excellent organizational skills
3 f/ ]/ D' j0 a• Computer skills: Word, ACCESS, Power Point etc. 4 @# Z( z8 P4 n$ r3 r8 S. n
• Ability in French (both written and oral) is an asset 8 v; {7 D5 w8 k, |# x
• Policy research skill set is an asset ! R x7 r3 V( @% [, y- E. S0 ~

This is a full time contract position for 1 year based out of our Toronto office with the possibility of extension.
