1. It's cool:cool

(可指人或事物)也就是 something good or acceptable;situation is under control;being calm, gentle, courteous or good-looking;meet teen's standard. B% b' p+ S, [8 N

& o' F! @) E( {  That's cool;he is cool;this is cool.
* f! W9 J! k, ~9 [5 }
% i0 T6 v/ ]1 L. n! ^  Skydiving (或surfing) is cool.(跳伞或冲浪运动很不错)3 |* r9 Q0 P- a! Z: Q
7 c9 @* J% f, D. }. Q5 v
  主词可用任何人称的单复数 (I, we, they 等),动词可用 verb to be 的任何时态 (is, was, were, will be, have been等)。因此,也可以说:3 a2 g7 ?$ e) m* `; n+ K/ I+ C% x
' {, m% h0 D0 x: t, {, a
  She (He) was cool in the past.% X! {& a8 J  c' ~

! F! z8 y  @4 _& R# {6 a" x  That's a cool T-shirt.(好看的运动衫)
! |' Q( p; \' r2 ~* J3 I6 ~2 w& D
  He (she) is a cool person.(文雅礼貌的人)
) g# T) u8 t  f4 n. V/ k* B
' ?5 |1 |0 I$ a- ?  n/ r  但是如果说:Are you cool?又是指「你冷吗?」(cool = cold),可见 cool 当口头禅或俚语时,多半不用在问句。假如说:0 H, G/ Z* [  L+ e4 _! b

* E% D# ^; R; F  She looks as cool as a cucumber. 又是恭维语,是说她很 calm and charming; not
6 @  b+ a% i* ]" k% ^% V1 f1 o9 e6 d0 _8 k; e
  emotional.
% M& d% v9 S$ O; m! W- I
+ f. t5 l" R8 T  (注:许多华人把 cool 译成「很酷」)
! o5 l9 @/ x8 u; b$ N# O# [1 M) m1 j  u6 t$ J
  2. Are you trippin'?:trippin' 这个字,是由动词 trip 演变而来。 这个字是现在分词当形容词用,是指行为异乎寻常,也许受到吸毒或喝酒的影响,而显得神魂颠倒、奇形怪状(to get high on drug such as LSD),也就是说:要不是受到药、酒的影响,你为什 显得这样古怪呢?(Are you under any influence of drug or alcoholic? Why are you so crazy and bizarre?)
! {! s' u9 J! _0 v* a, ?7 N7 T$ V3 A
  They are trippin'. (= tripping)
# d! u  y. \0 q* h
7 {6 G1 w. {, {3 `, v; r) N  She (he) is trippin'.
7 @0 H4 b' U* X0 u- R0 @% ]8 V
6 N6 R( S/ y+ }& ^! Z" X& l  Mr. A must be trippin'.
; b7 j6 p& B# t* q$ y2 E8 i2 _
" o% c( C; V! A1 ?$ q, ]5 w! Q% m! K# g/ W7 k5 C1 f) R8 I
  3. He is a nerd:nerd (A person always buries his nose in books, but not good at social situations.) (IQ = Intelligence Quotient ; EQ = Emotional Quotient) nerd 可用复数,动词也能用其他时态。
# U7 E3 V/ }3 F; n. C+ j, w! M0 z: k- c8 m* {
  He used to be a nerd in high school.
7 s0 V, t! E2 F  y: T1 y$ N# S, P! l
  Many Chinese students are(或 have been)considered nerds.
9 b9 I, r' T1 s- T' t& B+ N/ a: O
8 P3 c, J, a" I* A9 G. a6 T

$ z9 i1 e& z. ^  He is a computer geek. (意思是:虽然他是书呆子,但电脑很棒): ^1 `6 \8 Z& c$ n& w8 I
% [* L! I* Q! l' j4 X! a1 C
# I. o5 d2 t4 Y0 d( |
  I don't like him because he is a jerk.
# D6 ^, _* W4 u! m+ E8 O& z4 X+ k# S5 j  T
5 \* M+ @, h% `$ c1 B- V- O5 y" c; ?2 P! @) T7 @" S! l+ @( [" N
  Many jerks are working in our company.( y; }+ Y. a: E6 h- |( t8 z

+ ^1 \' U7 a- l* V  主词也可以用其他人称,动词也可用其他时态:. g( w, U- n% I" T& y% Z3 i

( _# Q/ K! Q, y( l4 O; _. Y  They are jerks; He was a jerk in the past; Mr. A has been jerk for years.
" x% j) t2 F0 m; v% G( g' s7 J5 [, p- T: J/ t
* @+ V( F, }6 [$ f; @3 L! z0 E$ g( w
(He thinks she is pretty and attractive, so he wants to speak to her.),也就是找话题,想要「打开话匣」。(to use as a form of opening line or pick-up line or to begin a greeting; try to know her or date her) 如果说:3 N# W0 h; J9 O. ?4 F! I# K
+ [6 z& h: j1 F7 G; R
  Yo baby, are you trippin'?
" n7 P6 {# f& j7 Z# K+ H  t
& `9 a1 `* q+ K& U2 Z$ u  May I help you with something? I think I have met you somewhere before.7 Z4 x, M4 ~! n2 d

& g& A4 e) I# b0 Y$ D, ]; l, {# ^5 ^7 M' ]3 Q5 W0 B- B" Q
  Hey, hey, hey, what's going on?“what is going on?”就是年轻黑人打招呼的用语 (a form of greeting or open statement) 或 Hey, hey, hey, are you going to the movie?(帅哥,你是去看电影吗?)
' f3 ^* {6 I1 T' Y3 J' {0 Y9 y- ~/ h  r# _% r3 h
  5. Catch you later!这是年轻人说「再会」的口语。(a form to say“good乡bye”) 也就是说:现在没有时间与你交谈,以後再谈吧!(I don't have time to talk with you now, but we can talk later.) 因此,catch 就是 talk 或 contact 的意思。catch 後面,也可用其他人称代名词(him, her, them 等)& ?/ _1 }: c1 I2 g" Y5 }
# ?  P# D( ~9 E
  有时年轻小伙子也用:I am off. I am leaving now; I'll talk to you again.
9 u  N  u+ s9 G' {# ^9 E
8 `9 h- x$ Y' B* Y$ z  (我要走了,再谈吧!)
