% L% P/ r& P! B' VYOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
Advocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
nine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
$ n/ L& g6 e8 b: [6 S6 bpeacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
4 `9 V* Y' x. w2 @/ `5 ]' s, AThe YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded
) n) Z9 q; r$ a2 K! H4 F
/ A5 \5 o- ]( X. {7 ]3 c8 J* Q) oproject that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
0 T4 x/ i' ~% D) k  k1 m; e9 R6 demployability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
The goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
" B* F# |- q$ _+ |4 G0 F5 jthe skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
3 I% N+ y, q3 z, _7 r3 v" ?* g# zparticipants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
$ ?! T2 q( t* {' h+ w' Jpersonal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
6 J% S4 R+ q/ L- gAdditionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
) d: X+ f4 s% g3 _! N! W+ i2 Hand leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
/ w  W3 h+ b, y. [7 Q$ Jfollow-up once the program is completed.

Verto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
