YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
4 E1 {. w' I' T" [# e2 d7 \# [Advocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
nine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
* o; A( u) V$ A2 RThe YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded
; [5 K" V6 Q. K
project that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
& Q% p& w3 Z. ]: X7 r( }0 Q& ]The goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
* @' O9 @' G& A9 zthe skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
$ i' ~  s! N* K3 ^3 S' Bparticipants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
) {% g2 o% h% X; opersonal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
: U& M" y- {9 g& G9 {Additionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
7 t+ Y  G4 n" i& ffollow-up once the program is completed.

Verto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
