Job Description:6 u% ? B: z+ _; |" V9 q+ \% ~* z
• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed0 y$ S, I4 l v. D: Q
• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components
& ~: g# B: w3 N; H• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers( W# O+ m7 r3 u4 y. e; J
• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams
9 N; h4 J6 F! d( m) o• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place% T. ~) I# G9 r& G$ t6 \ G; Q
• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment
. F. u: Q0 d+ A4 z6 @ U s$ U• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools' E7 ~/ l- l+ d: F+ s2 c
• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting/ R+ W3 D: l) `' D
• Mix paint, blend and match colors
9 F: y9 m1 e; P2 c6 r$ v• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns
8 R: n, M! m6 J& D/ \# k• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs
% R6 w% a9 P' E+ t- j1 d• Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation: ~& k9 W# g) i& \5 A4 d
• Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling) J" _6 c: r2 y) O) v8 F
Education and Experience Requirements:
+ n7 w; U8 @8 O* R0 Y• Completion of secondary school is required
2 d1 m9 m* l0 T! S5 R# k: z! f• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program
' \" a& {+ c$ R" Y/ ]or" r4 W q4 u( X- k% ?6 u, L
A combination of over three years of work experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade ! k P! B4 U# w; I8 V; F; E
• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory
