• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed
" Q7 J/ F7 v$ ]• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components/ r8 W3 x' V% l e
• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers
9 o# H2 D; F0 R9 V- M7 C& w$ Y• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams1 d3 m' q: ?, D( O
• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place
. v. n- L) r5 [8 G: z* q• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment
5 a+ T' v/ V7 M- h4 G# W• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools, g, e0 D& h5 I; u( q" C: ^' X* v" N3 u+ n
• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting* Y0 w" `- F8 E" h/ v+ \. w
• Mix paint, blend and match colors. a; o ]7 u0 |% O
• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns
$ g% h; W% i9 n( ~- a• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs, o5 m! W& n8 n/ d- ?% s
• Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation
' j& c& v/ M+ b' x: |3 O; J4 c• Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling; p8 y6 {+ e" i" f' R
Education and Experience Requirements:
; Z; g r+ E; C7 C* A+ ^• Completion of secondary school is required
' ^, F% g: R; `+ z1 F9 c• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program

A combination of over three years of work experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade ) N7 a- G0 Z ? I1 u8 ^4 D6 q' n
• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory
