it all depand on what you want. a diamond ring can be broken down into the following 4 categories:6 v) g( B8 O8 U' H7 S

the cutting of the diamond is also very important. a well cut 0.5 ct diamond may look as big or maybe even bigger on surface than a 1.0 ct diamond if it wasn't cut properly. 4 P% h( V0 ]8 x+ s: g
+ T* d( Z% M1 U1 q& Bthe solitary princess diamond is the most popular style for an engagement ring. solitaty means a single large diamond (not a whole bunch of small diamonds or dusts but with the total weight added to a 1.0 ct) and princess means it's cut into a round shape on top (not square or oval shape)

: \6 \- k% J7 d3 v: Athe band (ring itself) can be found in white gold 14K or 18K. typically, the better the diamond, the better band it comes with. ie <$5000 ring usually comes with a 14K band but >$5000 ring will come with a 18K band.
