matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance8 \- D, U' S# m5 W
in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800
; \0 R1 H# V( {# F( y& T* ^allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject" r( i+ X# l, A
without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography
' }; g4 P1 Q: w& B- ]5 @5 nwas traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum
! E/ S7 Y+ H |; N0 dimage quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was0 m* Z# Z3 u6 U. b. Y* b. G# y
widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and2 V5 P+ i4 @6 L- L8 ?
convenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown6 \4 J0 _& U9 f7 y7 y2 z
before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised, Y' [+ x" H) f- H( p/ U2 h
thanks to the D800.

range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces

has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is

also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New

To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is

are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
) N& X& {4 x: z( ^, [countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first
) v% E6 P7 A7 V) v7 n* W' jsight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws& A" k# B; ]" | i6 o' ]/ _
like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of

As a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,0 A% A8 m8 f6 y* I
compact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal
