Speed and power, without compromise. That’s how I’d sum up my impression

' D& y z, ]! G% \now inside a phenomenal, incredibly responsive Nikon machine. At 36.3
& Z4 N6 C3 H5 |; c; P K/ Mmegapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution! k6 w3 P7 ]. v# L# K- X8 ?
within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color- ]- u' u* `# h( }+ k
matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance+ y& D5 o& ?8 Q9 q3 b! L3 Y
in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D8005 B2 | x7 ]' x: k' z$ ^; r, G! K
allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject4 s8 j, R/ }& R- s
without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography3 n! H5 k2 z% }7 A/ {
was traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum
. F- s7 i4 F0 z/ Oimage quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was7 i) R$ W( Z' w% n" S
widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and- R& X# _3 M8 Q8 M, i
convenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown
' Q+ t$ \( ?) j5 ~" J& Dbefore, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,
) w- p. u0 l+ L& v! a- Lthanks to the D800.
0 o7 _7 @% j. s jWhen I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,0 H" Y$ p6 r+ H
36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic
0 Y9 {( i: ]- m W) L. ^range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces# d4 z( z* u; f2 X7 q7 H6 H
the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a' R/ Z: J2 i/ c1 I
D-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as7 \0 z- W) u6 @2 \
well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.; {: B$ O# i3 L( H
Autofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor! f" w K) ^( n1 Q
has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is
9 x9 b. `. d* K* o/ eeasier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while
1 r% S- L n# p* T( C- i2 }) xalso feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New
7 T/ o5 x3 i2 J; Vcameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features
& f% L+ r: @" A0 ?1 fin such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality% S8 u/ \2 l" ]2 R* T
prints and video.
# C/ v) b# U* Y, mTo me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is( X5 Q; ~: k- f5 C7 E" i0 C
not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models
7 c' q' m5 s `$ ?are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
6 Z, Y' H5 e a6 ?/ I: W `1 H" Icountless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first" g/ G8 [/ _) g3 \! f7 W
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws6 ?+ |' p4 K' v' `8 X6 O7 q
like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of$ F1 x& w3 k8 g9 U
acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I
3 D6 W& W# d/ g* U7 d4 }am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as6 b+ q8 x1 W* x2 g& B1 j' `- c! f
though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse
% d: \7 y: f" d9 X: \' X( Qphotography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add
! Q8 V# W: X! r, S- _3 G2 otremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the3 m9 v- M: H: v: Z9 |. [
D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express

As a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,
& n, N6 A! f$ m- q. H( \+ Mcompact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal

now. Particularly, the live view mode enables extremely precise compositions

/ F; l& l; _: ^9 V5 r1 nquality lenses such as the PC NIKKOR tilt & shift lineup are indispensable for+ ?8 N1 ^2 f+ T& e
architectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they' o* L, M. M1 c1 y
perfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly
! l: @% ~- l4 ^+ y6 J4 `# mclean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility3 Z, ~" e) h1 W
to work at unusual shooting locations and capture images in an exceptional' ^# E/ F0 B$ V# h8 ^: K
range of light. It definitely takes my photographic versatility and image quality
