在North America's best-known spelling bee比赛中，来自加拿大亚省的小选手最终夺魁。

来自爱城东南67公里的Tofield的小选手Finola Hackett??去年加拿大纪录的保持者，在第四轮正确拼写出"cachinnate," "kaddish" 和"bdelloid"后，一举夺冠。

Finola lives with her parents and two brothers in Tofield, Alberta, a tiny town southeast of Edmonton. “My oldest brother’s name is really hard to spell,” she says, as if bestowing on him the highest honour: “It’s T-a-d-h-g.” She also proudly spells her middle name — M-e-i H-w-a, Chinese for beautiful flower (her mom is Malaysian-Chinese, her dad Irish).

7 a8 f0 _) a0 M7 X+ h& ?Earlier in the day, Jaclyn Chang of Calgary was eliminated for stumbling on "gigerium" after spelling "strabismus" and "sortileger." Leslie Newcombe of Toronto misspelled "dhole" after getting "ersatz" right.

9 H2 x$ B2 b% r! IAnqi Dong of Saskatoon was eliminated in the afternoon's first round after misspelling "nepenthe."
