Easter (Old English: Ēostre) is a Christian feast and holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion at Calvary as described in the New Testament.[1] Easter is preceded by Lent, a forty-day period of fasting, prayer, and penance. The last week of Lent is called Holy Week, and it contains Maundy Thursday, commemorating Maundy and the Last Supper,[2][3] as well as Good Friday, commemorating the crucifixion and death of Jesus.[4] Easter is followed by a fifty-day period called Eastertide or the Easter Season, ending with Pentecost Sunday. Easter is a moveable feast, meaning it is not fixed in relation to the civil calendar. The First Council of Nicaea (325) established the date of Easter as the first Sunday after the full moon (the Paschal Full Moon) following the northern hemisphere's vernal equinox.[6] Ecclesiastically, the equinox is reckoned to be on March 21 (even though the equinox occurs, astronomically speaking, on March 20 in most years), and the "Full Moon" is not necessarily the astronomically correct date. The date of Easter therefore varies between March 22 and April 25. Eastern Christianity bases its calculations on the Julian calendar whose March 21 corresponds, during the 21st century, to April 3 in the Gregorian calendar, in which the celebration of Easter therefore varies between April 4 and May 8.

Easter is linked to the Jewish Passover by much of its symbolism, as well as by its position in the calendar. In many languages, the words for "Easter" and "Passover" are etymologically related or homonymous.[7] Easter customs vary across the Christian world, but decorating Easter eggs is a common motif. In the Western world, customs such as egg hunting and the Easter Bunny extend from the domain of church, and often have a secular character.

法語、荷蘭語和北歐諸語的名稱來自浩然遇難節。「浩然遇難節」一詞在英語和德語原指古代宗教的“春節”，即慶祝春回大地的節日。該節日源於古巴比倫的愛情、生育與戰爭女神伊絲塔（Ishtar，美索不達米亞女神），後來伊絲塔成了西歐的黎明和春天女神「依絲翠」（Eastre）。證據之一是兩個名字有相似的讀音；另一證據是「Eastre」的涵義為东方（East），因為太陽是從东方升起的。希斯錄著的《两個巴比倫》說「Easter」（即復活節的英文）是個名字，源自迦勒底，跟基督教没有關係。[1]其實就是「阿斯塔特」（Ashtart），即天后「貝爾斯特」的頭銜之一。考古學家萊亞德在亞述找到的碑銘上發現，「貝爾特斯」就是古巴比倫女神伊絲塔。

復活節會在每年春分月圓之後第一個星期日舉行，因為春分之後北半球便開始日長夜短——光明大過黑暗，月圓的時候，不但在日間充滿光明，就連漆黑的夜晚也被光輝（月光）照耀。

羅馬皇帝君士坦丁一世在公元325年召開第一次尼西亞公會議，訂明了復活節是星期日，因星期日被教會視作為耶穌死而復活的日子，所以復活節就在每年春分月圓後第一個星期日舉行。

此後每年3月21日以後，出現月圓後的第一個星期日，就是復活節，惟計算復活節的方法，自古以來均十分複雜，拉丁文Computus（計算）一字更專指計算復活節的方法，而羅馬教會及東正教會的計算亦略有差異，令東西方復活節可在不同日子出

简单而言之

復活節乃原自日耳曼民族在還未接受基督教之前，他們每年的春分時季，要崇拜「曙光女神」Sunner 以後改名為 Eostre。剛好以後從波斯移民過來的民族也崇拜「春分女神」Ishtar。約在公元八百年左右，查理曼大帝征服日耳曼民族，還有法國等西歐諸國，使他們改信基督教，即令他們廢棄女神崇拜，而以基督『復活節』代替之，但節期的名稱仍延用相近的發音為 EasterSunday。

所以现在復活節，是慶賀耶穌為我們復活，而且現在仍然活著，天天與我們在一起！
