Responsibilities and Tasks6 [' S/ C+ a2 `3 s

- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment
6 V8 L* |/ d, A" i8 b' p, \- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements8 _7 n8 u$ }6 @7 \; n+ d
- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
7 B5 G3 i% D! C! f L) c9 }( A- b3 |- Select type and size of pipe required8 i6 f& _ d; a
- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools6 I+ t+ C. k; Z+ j
- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
+ Q* x# B7 z7 ^3 j) X J- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems: y- E2 c) z; Q; J
- Test system for leaks using testing equipment$ w3 I$ \. d e# ^ J
- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system

- Completion of secondary school4 x2 E2 q$ F" w1 e
- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation 6 k. o7 { ?* N0 n4 T: ?
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals) s9 `0 N. X7 y% G
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
