Responsibilities and Tasks& G" ` j9 E8 Q) C4 g2 Y
) I( v8 N1 b4 N r# _# B: S2 U/ U- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment
! e5 c2 b3 H3 j; u2 `- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements1 y/ B1 r+ Z: I" m+ ^. H7 R+ F
- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
/ X! x8 U4 H* E# S7 d" T L1 }- Select type and size of pipe required' {& G! J, g( E& b" \1 O. Z W
- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools4 M2 O5 S7 {" ^: x% B
- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
+ p' ?" ?0 G" B- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems. k0 S% k1 g6 j4 \1 r
- Test system for leaks using testing equipment0 D- E1 m! P) n: H- n
- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system
9 `- Y, A: j0 ~9 v% h' @! c3 u" g- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system
) X5 u2 z; Z* @+ V$ N. k. S8 N- Actively participate in the Iyinisiw safety program
1 S3 w+ V5 S+ q; i% m/ L- Other tasks related to pipefitting as may be required during the course of business

9 b) ]) {+ u9 V z- Completion of secondary school
- H T$ x6 W6 a: N8 {6 L- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation
\' x) m5 R7 Q8 D0 q* @. D+ F1 ~- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
& D0 I8 \: A5 B4 O- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence! d2 x( Z& O$ L* x8 E) T3 _. e
- Pipefitter trade certification is considered an asset; k0 d4 ]& K; _
- Safety tickets are considered an asset% o* j! o n9 ^, ~9 [- c& V( g
- Valid drivers’ license is an asset: K# [8 S O! F4 W4 ^* u0 n
- Interprovincial Red Seal is an asset
