Responsibilities and Tasks8 {, C. {) K4 I3 l) _

- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment * D6 c3 e3 Z$ w* A8 ]- @0 M
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements
. k k6 K: Y% j* x- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines0 E/ w0 `) [& Z; T- v
- Select type and size of pipe required
% p% D L q5 m( w( x- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools& c' m0 k o$ z' D* i
- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
$ A+ Q; K1 @& T2 t+ a6 k& k- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems
6 f* @0 ^1 B, c/ O% W- Test system for leaks using testing equipment
6 A$ S, z @' Y- k I: ]- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system4 Z! r: x; L6 I
- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system

- Other tasks related to pipefitting as may be required during the course of business

- Completion of secondary school; _! g! v( Z1 a8 g! n
- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation 3 h+ N. E& d( _
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals2 x5 L ] v4 q& S; G, H4 `; Y5 ?
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
6 U0 b' x( `0 B& ]( ~9 Y- Pipefitter trade certification is considered an asset

- Valid drivers’ license is an asset
