Alberta lost 11,000 jobs in March, a figure Statistics Canada said is the first “notable” decline in over two years.

Statistics Canada reports that the Canadian economy lost 54,500 jobs in March.

In Edmonton, the unemployment rate dropped to 4.2 per cent in March from 4.4 per cent in February.

In Calgary, the unemployment rate went up slightly -- 5.1 per cent in March, compared to 5.0 per cent in February.
