There is something to do with the society where the kid grows up. In China, since the kid has a chance to go back to the other parent and grandparents on the other parent side and is 'educated' by relatives, other neighbours and so on, the kid might think a biological parent is more important and beloved than a step parent. But here in Canada, not many people surrounding the kid would like to say so and neither does the kid have much chance to stay with relatives. ! n5 N9 B- c2 w, M: t4 b
