EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.- d% ]3 _4 F8 U4 g+ \

The item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.

Police evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.6 \2 H9 K( J) X, _2 `8 T
" @: d0 e# X6 u M: D"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."
