EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning./ b8 |- F$ }9 w \, \) S
( @$ T) q W" cThe item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.

1 ?: j: `, K% \2 x% V" qPolice evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.

"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."0 {8 l* | {- @) C( x) z3 t
