EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.

0 a W. R b. S% s$ Z8 Q8 g, y7 MThe item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre./ Z; ^ x. m m9 l9 y

Police evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.3 ?7 l: K0 p4 d) }2 s" [/ |

"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."" w9 F, G C% q- d3 }' x$ v
