Two men are dead and three suspects have been arrested after a pair of armed robberies in south Edmonton. The first man was killed in a shooting at a Mac's convenience store at 108th Street and 61st Avenue. Police were called to the scene just before 3:45 a.m. MT on Friday. Fifteen minutes earlier, police were called to an armed robbery at another Mac's convenience store at 32nd Avenue and 82nd Street. A man was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but later died. Three suspects were arrested after police tracked down a vehicle on Whitemud Drive. That vehicle remained at the scene this morning, just under the Terwillegar Drive overpass on Whitemud eastbound. The homicide unit is investigating both deaths. Traffic was being diverted Friday morning off Whitemud onto Terwillegar, and the eastbound lanes were expected to be shut down for some time for the investigation. Motorists were advised to avoid the area and use other routes. Police haven't released any information about the men who were killed. A spokesperson said they're waiting for confirmation that family members have been notified.
