When an employer terminates employment

An employer must give an employee whose employment is being terminated written termination
6 v, Y5 P5 j: m0 anotice of at least:
- ?0 y; X' R7 S. l7 K; q0 u" I; K& ?2 T5 I" o) i$ w6 Y0 A
• one week for employment of more than 3 months, but less than 2 years;
+ d: l3 }( c$ |/ u/ l0 j1 ^ a• two weeks for employment of 2 years or more, but less than 4 years;; L. c, S8 n7 D4 r& z
• four weeks for employment of 4 years or more, but less than 6 years;2 Y% v4 F% U9 g6 k6 ^+ g
• five weeks for employment of 6 years or more, but less than 8 years;* Z8 n* z0 y4 q
• six weeks for employment of 8 years or more, but less than 10 years; and+ y3 `2 F/ `9 ~
• eight weeks for employment of 10 years or more.5 Y( E, H( K8 Z5 d- D8 Y
Some employees may be entitled to a greater notice period by the courts than the minimum
