Wireless Data Network Specialist will be responsible for the introduction of new Internet based technology into the TELUS Mobility network. The technology responsibilities will include the selection, evolution and support of the following: VOIP Application Technologies, Next Generation IP Application Services for Wireless Access networks, Mobile IP Application Solutions support and design. Other responsibilities include vendor management and technology reviews with current vendors. This position will require proven Communication and Engineering skills in a technology driven environment. Primary interfaces will be Product Development, Engineering/ Operations/ NSS, Network Planning, IT Development and TELUS Corporate.

Responsibilities:

Evaluate, select and introduce, through the New Technology Introduction process, network technologies for inclusion into the TELUS Mobility network.
! K6 D/ r7 T1 Q* GDevelop Methods of Procedures and feature functionality specifications for any new product being introduced. This will include lab testing responsibilities for new technology.
6 E+ i# k  M5 x7 U. ZDevelop and Analyze RFP's for new equipment and services related to TELUS Mobility's networks. Manage the vendor relationship once established on behalf of TELUS Mobility.
* u. D$ z' F/ }- F6 G3 _7 n, \2 CDevelop the technology roadmaps for the evolution of existing technology and managed solutions. Plan, Execute and Report on strategic trials in the TD R&D Lab.

, b: t# c8 C* m) y% E0 N$ sA sound knowledge of CDMA and GSM data network infrastructure.
' |; k2 R! N! O( `4 q) K, [Experience negotiating with vendors for new technology and support agreements.
+ u4 ~% y( Q3 `6 o3 r- y+ p2 Q' aExcellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Required Professional Designation/Certification:
% O/ n( h8 m" T: }$ h
/ W( y$ k# h1 JB. Sc. in Electrical, Communications or Systems Engineering, and P.Eng. eligible or an equivalent degree specializing in telecommunications field.
Required Experience:
$ F3 Q' ^0 {; `3 k; y. u- _
Minimum 2 years experience in Network Engineering and/or Operations in a wireless environment and min. 2 years of direct experience in IETF/ IEEE communication and messaging protocols.
  b5 M" Y2 T: I& \Minimum 1 years of progressive experience in managing large projects across various departments.
