Police Sgt. Doug McIlwraith said Tuesday that Angela Ta has been charged with passing a motor vehicle stopped for a pedestrian at a crosswalk, failing to yield at a crosswalk, and careless driving.
7 j# Z* a1 G+ V3 g2 W" v& hMcIlwraith says the charges could mean a licence suspension, a $2,000 fine or six months in jail.
" i/ Z1 [! Z7 H, q) |$ n* M7 jSix-year-old Jenna Chang and her mother, Ye Qiao, were struck Jan. 18 by a black BMW while using a marked crosswalk at 32 Avenue and 37 Street N.W.
2 f3 Y. g5 L0 H+ H! H4 dChang died of her injuries. Her mother is recovering in hospital.
