Calgary police have now laid charges against an 18-year-old Calgary woman following the death of a little girl at a crosswalk in the city's northwest.
7 b, A" O. D& g' aPolice Sgt. Doug McIlwraith said Tuesday that Angela Ta has been charged with passing a motor vehicle stopped for a pedestrian at a crosswalk, failing to yield at a crosswalk, and careless driving.1 [% E0 O7 F( j- J; {
McIlwraith says the charges could mean a licence suspension, a $2,000 fine or six months in jail.
" E# p, O. L6 LSix-year-old Jenna Chang and her mother, Ye Qiao, were struck Jan. 18 by a black BMW while using a marked crosswalk at 32 Avenue and 37 Street N.W.5 j8 t+ R K( m
Chang died of her injuries. Her mother is recovering in hospital.; l1 R* n' p% `
