Police Sgt. Doug McIlwraith said Tuesday that Angela Ta has been charged with passing a motor vehicle stopped for a pedestrian at a crosswalk, failing to yield at a crosswalk, and careless driving." Y7 C- W0 e. @0 w6 q0 F( f
McIlwraith says the charges could mean a licence suspension, a $2,000 fine or six months in jail.
0 {2 U# d" w4 v' } pSix-year-old Jenna Chang and her mother, Ye Qiao, were struck Jan. 18 by a black BMW while using a marked crosswalk at 32 Avenue and 37 Street N.W.0 A& I1 X7 d% H; u a. S
Chang died of her injuries. Her mother is recovering in hospital.
