* x2 ^/ r4 P4 cEdmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.6 B; x* m9 S% k K0 ?

FUNCTIONS:
4 w* U2 r0 M) y* P• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.
8 @8 w. w+ D/ u* j• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.
- d, b( ^+ t; s. E& C) @9 n1 O• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.
( `) Q: }& D! D: @: k# A0 m! w r! ~• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather " X' ~, X7 {; Z( H) B4 y
and traffic conditions.

• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations.

. w, r1 j7 D. l• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.

% c* P) G% P1 ]• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
; ~: D# c( V' b, \4 R7 p$ P' s• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.0 `. ?6 }. y# S$ g* A3 N" a
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.' M, d A7 y; I- i; z8 x
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)

$ s* U* X# U: y& e• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill
+ q% d7 y* f4 D) `( M" [( C0 |& ~4 Dvideo-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

% H" _# }# C; n- D! W1 N' ?• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

SALARY RANGE: 401, Salary Grade: 004 / e) z- g( U! A' p/ \
Training Rate: $16.56 Hourly
