Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.2 l7 J. b- w' M8 i: F+ x& I

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.( \9 h" @, }; W& o S/ n' ^
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.

• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
) X1 z) O* Y t- O; M• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.

9 h4 R7 p1 C( {$ ]' c/ i• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
) c: r, q1 v+ J5 W6 `• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
$ q3 t6 j8 B) G2 |; f) R• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.& R [: T/ M4 `, c" c T, J
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) - m5 J: c2 R$ n8 U
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period. 2 u: f- c0 P8 [5 F9 x7 h
• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill 8 L# R v0 `" k5 i! C# Y5 d
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

% b9 J: ^$ j2 h• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

1st year: Guaranteed minimum 67.4 hours bi-weekly
