Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.4 l1 E0 E) `4 j

FUNCTIONS:
. O- q7 R) W1 ]8 u8 Y9 T• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.6 Y2 I9 p! A: @0 X0 {' f
• Collect proper fare, issue transfers.& f9 \ d, r6 z( {7 G
• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.& z3 c# ?$ g* E2 W/ G
• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather " _% A* V9 W7 `# j: E
and traffic conditions.

• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations.

% O& g8 Z; I2 Z• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.

• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).! j5 k1 K* b; G8 D8 r, U
• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.3 m$ e" n6 B2 f- v
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.
0 v4 a0 z) v1 i0 `' e• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)
. ~' f7 C: q2 }. P* ^, L7 wshowing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.

video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

+ j" n* n4 c8 j6 ?Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week

Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly
