+ C; u1 }$ n) X# P) t2 D7 mFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization + ` Q1 g& |7 j# i4 a
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
! V1 E# ^3 d0 K: Z( ]artists from Northern Alberta. 5 N* Y- A! F7 Q5 ?. P- ~
3 T" W& j4 ]$ y) D( EFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
; {7 N0 a( ~7 femerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video " o& ~7 t2 I. t$ N* n; a) M, l
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a / l1 G* k; P! n: x5 V+ s
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and * ~9 V' j/ K9 m) @& u
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern 9 t) S3 E5 Y5 ^! x$ a
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive " {6 U5 W8 k) M: `5 H( O0 `
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
$ h$ \1 p, d2 ?; Zassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. ) K. Q6 F, ?/ |& c* Y9 N0 |
0 X: c) u9 c; a5 ]: x) _6 vDuties:
; t3 c5 m! J+ _! }- Assist with research on acquisition grants
" H8 z# k- g) l& W2 X- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities ; Q' `/ D( m9 }; Z( E9 Y8 r
- Assist with equipment maintenance
$ V4 w( D) r6 V8 w7 _7 |, K- Assist with production logistics for programming events
* K( g( _* }1 | @- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff ) Y N. F2 S4 U o9 _! ^
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable & n+ t' p3 L; B
- Provide vacation relief # R( v" [+ o6 A" }% P

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:

+ e9 z0 N) W1 h# d- U( L- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
7 S5 U) v( u: i9 S- Advance organizational and research skills 8 U3 Z! u- y, C; G, @
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
" i8 |) q: I& Z( b$ t- Strong team player abilities
3 x& N; o: }5 H( I0 O+ q' v- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
