5 `& O1 x* J9 v4 T/ y  d5 M" A  ]FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
' C+ N; s! m6 ], x( B+ ZAlberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
- Z$ v3 _$ ?/ x* S7 a- v4 Hemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
$ _: k& ^4 S4 nand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
: b- z. [4 k# s. T' B- `$ Nresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
  G- c+ R+ B) m- l) Xscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

! R# w! m7 d5 _6 iJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
5 g3 z& k- w1 ]' Z6 J0 oFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
5 z6 {( J$ C  F) U( L2 z0 cwell as the script, magazine and book library.

5 R8 n3 @. s% G6 I5 X/ j) Q- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
% `3 f9 d5 D1 \) D7 M% |- m- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
- {7 D: {  g- t8 u  Q# y' ]1 ~- Implement a catalogue template for future use
' t& {0 V0 S; Z$ I- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
/ n- M1 M3 y, z(STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
% @9 }! ]' ?4 V. o% i- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
/ T' {* ?; b3 [4 A' C6 Z9 K$ ]- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal
