FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the " B" Q0 W8 \9 ?$ h( U2 a
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to 6 s7 Q, X% @$ _/ S
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern % r$ F$ h/ J; w1 q6 Q
Alberta.

3 p/ ]) M# P* ~& O# PFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
- d5 w& z+ q' g2 {& ^" remerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
3 T' L3 D, f, L1 J8 v+ u5 _and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
* e3 I3 G! [( O; U0 d+ eresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
1 l" |( ]2 Y. m7 R$ [& sscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

+ H% ?2 C* o. J$ y O, ^; {* d0 cJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the 0 h' T8 ~) F0 A( l+ F
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as ' \ ~. D. @9 X4 D$ U8 [
well as the script, magazine and book library.

Duties:
$ b: ]+ q0 `/ U$ i5 m! B- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library * B1 i9 j+ L1 e, d# t$ v% [
- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
" |$ q( q7 N4 j6 ?7 M' F& ?2 [% z. g- Implement a catalogue template for future use ' l5 M; O% }1 I
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
J7 b4 G. R+ n! p3 ]% Z- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable ! }& W! k2 h$ v

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-+ u7 _9 T8 A( j# V3 W/ a
secondary training, university preferred 9 a5 o4 ^ f& n' L9 T! x
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week , T9 ]0 o( A8 _/ m0 D! \& d0 ?
- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks ! w- M* v2 H0 F! o/ Q$ Q7 ~

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: * u$ d/ m. q9 t7 u) Y5 X9 r
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts # a# u" D1 S4 O1 r" N$ t
- Strong organizational skills 3 e1 D& x# s( @" | t1 }7 d
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred

- Strong team player abilities 0 n7 V" d h* }
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
