ATV crash leaves woman dead, man presumed drowned

According to RCMP, a 58-year-old woman tried to drive an ATV down an embankment by the Rivers Reservoir spillway, just before 8:30 p.m. on July 12.
}3 r9 e% d5 ?+ X6 c5 j
9 C7 j& G0 r; oShe lost control of the machine and hit a 39-year-old man, who was fishing. The woman, from the town of Rivers, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man, from Brandon, was knocked into the fast-moving water and disappeared. Rescue efforts failed to locate the man, who is presumed drowned.

6 S4 k) G; I* a" W4 }3 SSearch efforts and the investigation into the incident are both ongoing, RCMP said.

A Brandon man is presumed drowned after he was knocked into the fast-moving waters of the Rivers Reservoir Spillway on July 12 by a woman on an ATV. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. 9 t+ |9 R' {% T9 _, J+ S9 |Rivers is located about 30 kilometres northwest of Brandon. It is near the Little Saskatchewan River, which enters the Rivers Reservoir, also known as Lake Wahtopanah.( A) s& w- p# Y; ]9 r
