4 E! {# h6 Z  u5 w) H& _FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
9 v; t) \: U+ e, v& G+ Uartists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
3 N( B) F$ A! {% F) g. X7 iand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
; o/ M. p7 l# |2 wAlberta.

0 y8 N% K- U- E2 S  eJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
6 ]) R8 t- N# i% LDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
- W) s( ?% c3 e" w5 Z: W4 qassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

+ R  H# L- a3 H) I6 c' n% Y; }1 m$ ADuties:
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
! s# f; y2 a* V# W3 ~5 ^- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
, T% H6 N+ f; w1 ]! [- Assist with equipment maintenance
$ |; ?, l- ^5 t2 J- Assist with production logistics for programming events
( y% ?6 E2 n1 l& c  K- |3 U1 @5 J/ u- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
) o8 w7 T* E+ v9 j3 H0 w$ J' v- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

! n& D" `9 _1 R: r4 _7 |- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-

3 \) e8 B7 A% R; j% R3 z- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
. r8 J2 {2 K" M2 k3 b5 |" c2 d- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
; ~3 C/ `: u# D' F" H$ a+ H$ H- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- \. _/ z' m- Q- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
9 S: F4 A# T. }$ w) ^; A- Advance organizational and research skills
/ `8 e  p9 H4 M7 l1 V& K4 d- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
