: `% b0 C5 x4 ?8 _FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
, r+ n+ E1 l0 Q" Cartists from Northern Alberta.

* z8 i7 _. e; `( n0 U8 zFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
4 j% @- C6 m  r# l* r! Demerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
# b3 r' s8 `0 u% Z! fresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
: j% x& i+ J& pscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
% K3 o& [+ X6 V# z- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
" }3 c& T, n+ ~. U* ]- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
2 _# q8 s4 [% ^4 |, @! {9 [) K, K/ D- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
' ?$ V5 b  K$ h6 ~Program (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
2 q: {' G$ W; [; n+ y, u" a- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
: P/ v# v# M& F0 R, C% L- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
