thermostats has 3 different types with 3 dead bands: 0.5 C. 1.0C and 2.C degree. The less dead band, the more often the furnace will start/stop. But your room temperature will keep more even and comfort. It means, if the temperature in your rooms changes 0.5 c degree, 0.5 degree difference from the setting temperature, the furnace will start or stops. But the 2.C degree dead band thermostat will not ask the furnace to start or stop.! K$ w# S0 ~3 E' q* \3 G9 J
The thermostat using in most new houses nowadays have 0.5C small dead band thermostat. Comfort level but start up more often, good for keep the temperature higher in the basement as well. if it is ok for the room temperature changes a little bit more, you can change back to 1C degree dead band thermostat.7 x( D; ~8 R' L( M

To check gas usage, the accurate way is to not the money as the rate is changing every month. You can check the number of the cubic meter you actually used in the gas bill. The gas bill shows the previous few monthes as well at the back side of the bill with bars in the graphic.
