EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.) S G6 v3 S+ H" B0 z
. }5 i9 }4 |2 T5 g8 o @The item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre./ c" B/ ?9 p* r

Police evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.2 h7 ^5 [4 ]4 H r0 [& J' M- w" h

"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."
