FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
' h5 r, r# b1 g2 }5 Rwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
5 }3 ~+ w& ^3 a/ S% r% U$ qartists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
7 J2 D5 Z% ?+ c7 Lemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video 8 u4 |* `6 O! B7 W2 q
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
4 w; H! y! R; U; n; [8 V1 g, p& o) e) aresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and 4 s9 \3 v+ \7 p1 S
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern % u* J$ ]% b, Y! X7 F

( S* d9 y! ?* y! P, oJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive 4 L5 a! h* \" |. m) ^" n- k" |
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by & ~+ @/ d1 C/ p3 t S3 L: n
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. 4 F9 m1 _" b4 N* V" ]/ a9 P8 [6 `
Y# x( y- w5 |) F) b% ?7 rDuties: 7 s0 w9 F" s: w6 J% u# S6 N
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
) m/ F) B6 j2 g( ?8 I4 ^- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
& n2 A0 A1 Z0 ~- Assist with equipment maintenance 3 D7 s: m2 k9 d, M
- Assist with production logistics for programming events & o* j+ ^# s) j$ z5 T; a/ J# [
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff # J# Z4 D/ Y, {
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

secondary training

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
9 P& O4 |4 r" @* `- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts 3 Z [% d i, x# i
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
& `" j% f( L- I r- x, j y P- Advance organizational and research skills
, H' {: ]9 _! l) _6 q# n- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
R v+ m4 g$ r. Z- x- Strong team player abilities g# v( P3 i/ p1 l1 n$ Z: u
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
