FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
' h5 r, r# b1 g2 }5 Rwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
5 }3 ~+ w& ^3 a/ S% r% U$ qartists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
7 J2 D5 Z% ?+ c7 Lemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
4 w; H! y! R; U; n; [8 V1 g, p& o) e) aresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

( S* d9 y! ?* y! P, oJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

  Y# x( y- w5 |) F) b% ?7 rDuties:
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
) m/ F) B6 j2 g( ?8 I4 ^- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
& n2 A0 A1 Z0 ~- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
; ?! A3 ^8 {7 {4 f8 S- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
9 P& O4 |4 r" @* `- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
& `" j% f( L- I  r- x, j  y  P- Advance organizational and research skills
, H' {: ]9 _! l) _6 q# n- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
  R  v+ m4 g$ r. Z- x- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
