$ Z L& X9 m, M: O7 [, ^Shell Canada has confirmed to Mix News that a death has occurred at the Shell Albian Sands Jackpine oil sands mine 75 kilometres north of Fort McMurray.# i. q8 n/ [: u+ W; O
% h% a# l% _# G0 U4 G/ J, }( vEmergency crews responded to the scene at around 7:15 am, and the individual was transported to the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre where they were pronounced dead.

RCMP are on scene and the name of the deceased has not been released.

Shell says it believes the death was an "isolated event", and "does not appear to be related to workplace activity".
