Edmonton police have arrested and charged a 26-year-old man with a weapon offence, following several recent gun complaints in the southwest community of Riverbend.9 b4 B! J: Z& \* u6 ?. A" s

A male wearing a balaclava and carrying a handgun was spotted by a pedestrian walking in the area of Falconer Road and Riverbend Road at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.; v' ?# x& N: K0 E% d" P0 d! X% I, i) [) P

Police arrested the man later in the afternoon at the Terwillegar Recreation Centre, after receiving a tip from a resident.+ A$ f6 x" {5 o; ]: U# C' s
; n* `/ U: N# G* n5 C0 V$ ~. gA search of the man's home turned up a BB pistol and balaclava matching the description given by witnesses. The man is charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes.3 n3 i; ^2 c/ d2 f$ \. l
, e- g: H9 s( ZA man wearing a balaclava and holding a handgun was seen in the area on two previous occasions — the first at 4 p.m. last Friday near the Snow Valley ski hill parking lot and on Saturday on the Terwillegar Drive footbridge.
