Edmonton police have arrested and charged a 26-year-old man with a weapon offence, following several recent gun complaints in the southwest community of Riverbend.# E0 A+ n! w+ P( v* L
' R7 \+ L) O, Y9 RA male wearing a balaclava and carrying a handgun was spotted by a pedestrian walking in the area of Falconer Road and Riverbend Road at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.. _4 X9 x& Z0 L* z

Police arrested the man later in the afternoon at the Terwillegar Recreation Centre, after receiving a tip from a resident.

A search of the man's home turned up a BB pistol and balaclava matching the description given by witnesses. The man is charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes." n, c4 h& r& g1 h" u9 v1 X

A man wearing a balaclava and holding a handgun was seen in the area on two previous occasions — the first at 4 p.m. last Friday near the Snow Valley ski hill parking lot and on Saturday on the Terwillegar Drive footbridge. ! i6 L, d5 f+ U$ w2 \: n/ s' l
