2) spend time on looking into job market, evaluate your market value based on your previous working experience and your education background. Go to school when necessary. All the people I heard of that chose path (1), would have to take low-paid no-future cash job, in order to keep the social aids income. At the their fifth year, they are still living in those bed-bug apartment that built for low income, they still have no decent job, still drive shabby second hand car. And worse, they are five years older, so they even value less in the job market than the date they arrive Canada.4 ~ G/ E: B Z: `8 R4 E- l# b) b
# O! _! s. m5 y1 ZAll the people chose path (2), Buy their first house (or apartment) after two years, buy their second house in the fifth year. When buying the second house, they can choose neighborhood, so that their kids can go to a better school. 6 y6 u5 _1 q* Q% W
7 x" K; s7 W7 v0 p2 k, |9 R& UPath (2) is harder than (1) only for the first year. Both husband and wife will be very busy working to make the end meets. You will have to spend some of your savings that brought from china. From second year, Path (2) will go upwards.# S7 \7 r1 f, q; x& Z+ Y7 w

To all my friend and my relatives, I urge them to choose Path (2) within the first week after landing. Do not even spend an hour on researching the social aids, because originally you are not come to Canada in order to be a beggar, and eventually your life long target is to get a life that should be much better than yours back in china. As a new immigrant, you only have TIME, spend it wisely on things that will benefit you for long term. Do not spend your time on tiny social aids money. |
