  ]; C5 l7 F, ^0 h9 R; l, k* A9 IFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

& y5 E* J, \- {0 T6 N7 L* U) r1 E! B' E9 mFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
- T  g8 j# Q5 R$ Qemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
  z! l# x5 h3 S$ V! L5 K! Pand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
/ ~, g& z% x) Z, R1 X5 T; H6 V. M$ Z3 eresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
& s0 T1 J& d% \, G/ h1 `screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
7 t/ l6 \( r& G+ _% nAlberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
) ~. @# [2 ~  P6 Q: T- Assist with research on acquisition grants
  V9 w) ~9 A$ \6 f, [( g: t- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
' i5 s# p8 R- z! A- Assist with equipment maintenance
! Z  [0 {( {% n# u$ w( l- Assist with production logistics for programming events
9 t- O0 q9 D2 b% j- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
2 ~% l7 W( b* e" H- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

Details:
- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
3 i6 I4 z, V9 a# `Program (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
4 C4 S! M, l. t( ]- f, I3 Isecondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
: ]. V) m# M# \% {$ ^- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

7 \8 F  [% J# EQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD

- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
