FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization

2 P' C7 K( w8 V* xFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
" W+ U# F6 |9 t5 I8 \; Temerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
2 r* g: R2 o- F7 u( [: i9 P; z5 Kand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
. U, [- U8 S3 B9 e% |3 Cresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
: O* l: {! d8 P: u  BAlberta.

: Q& z8 y+ K) K3 m! qJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
6 U4 y$ _! w" [% b  VDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
' u& g; H# R: o7 m1 L6 R: Kassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
+ Y4 _# t  g  r- Assist with research on acquisition grants
: ]- Z7 R  G, I% b2 B- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
& q9 U* c% Q3 c  L8 X4 ?: w# ~" k- Assist with production logistics for programming events
# U, a5 u' P; B- Q  }' D- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
! n( D* o, p. S: n8 t/ x' _6 Isecondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
& @6 W9 n+ w% }" N, I; J4 Y- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
1 _& X2 s% U- b: B) x7 Z- Advance organizational and research skills
% V9 d# M( O3 q. G1 K/ c# P- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
& o& `, {8 I7 P) R: v* N) z- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
