FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization 4 P. G* s1 I8 v! H' Z- T5 m3 o
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media 0 H6 u5 W6 R2 y- B' i6 j% Y
artists from Northern Alberta.

( d. t9 T% {% b# Iemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
8 O# y7 K- L) D' |% }and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a 5 M5 L; d- c0 R2 x- U6 O a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and ( i; m9 i& a) r( A) _& t
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern ' ]9 r: r: {& o7 y2 _

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive / v0 X X/ r/ D% Q. j# _/ J- \
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
' ]+ j& \1 n1 [assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. 1 C, C" k% \; {# c
! b( O* h- _4 f8 a, T! K: ]- eDuties: : T, W# W# @9 ~' w6 W
- Assist with research on acquisition grants ( x3 Z6 t: D8 B( ~4 K
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities 4 V+ M5 a- e5 J9 O! v# w
- Assist with equipment maintenance $ u3 x+ C S9 r6 g7 o
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
7 u w) G1 \. z( ^, n/ J/ d) t- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff ! J# ]3 j, X" A* A. F1 M
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-7 S/ s; `3 \5 s2 }! j* j; w0 o
secondary training
" I3 G7 o0 J7 ~' w5 N) s- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
; `2 X! f: C' x( E e- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:

- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment 4 Z4 Y/ A' r% P. C! c
- Advance organizational and research skills 5 S9 a2 P1 ]# F
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD & ?% A& L7 t' c) d6 G. ]+ ^' [
- Strong team player abilities % n) e6 F. \( u" p0 b0 G! [) X' k
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
