FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization

3 o3 q  @7 z: z7 G( ?" o" _emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
5 b/ s; N$ I- |and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
7 l- V; D, v  p6 S$ w5 {8 EAlberta.

6 t" E9 F+ u. }* v4 ?# a8 ^) TJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
% V7 s( \0 n$ D7 W2 p4 Q  b0 mDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
: W3 y; M6 S% d' ^' Y+ eassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
4 }, ]/ s  V9 Y: {1 S" N- Assist with research on acquisition grants
8 Y- M4 F5 Z$ f( H" ^- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
: a0 w; G- x& ^8 ~% v4 X- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
1 Y( K$ z' R1 u+ l( q- Provide vacation relief

Details:
- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
* ~/ J% O8 f" }) nProgram (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
* \, ?5 x$ E! d6 ]5 E" gsecondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
, F6 y% h" G3 H/ t- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
& U  K3 F$ O4 I- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
