FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
6 V  o* ?! f- r5 [2 q  \- Hsummer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
support the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
Alberta.
! h6 f- ]& w4 O9 t
FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
. G4 w4 |& W7 O* aand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
5 I7 V/ D+ t9 ^% Nresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
# B% }! |2 k6 P1 v" R5 bAlberta.

2 s' \/ R: v  T# B7 zJob Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
) y3 ~5 v' N8 P; n- SFAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
) h4 A+ f! S# Q  W2 _well as the script, magazine and book library.
+ j! D$ m- Q$ L: n
Duties:
- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
! Z5 o3 i- H- I% H5 j. B- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
# B7 `5 J0 t( _5 \) q+ t- }- Implement a catalogue template for future use
- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
9 {* d( V0 r5 }/ @# ?! d- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program

9 I' `8 \8 `5 c, D2 O: X- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
* L7 W6 n! g0 h% b: ~) z- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

) w% `3 z( o, v9 v% d2 mQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
6 R/ Z* g' T/ [3 ]- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
) m+ O6 q$ Q: C$ `% h7 c, ]- Strong team player abilities
9 `& a) O) v/ y1 Q" H. r% O$ J3 ?! m- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
