Shell Canada has confirmed to Mix News that a death has occurred at the Shell Albian Sands Jackpine oil sands mine 75 kilometres north of Fort McMurray.

3 A# w. \# v" I4 R& DEmergency crews responded to the scene at around 7:15 am, and the individual was transported to the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre where they were pronounced dead.
! N8 S% `& H3 a4 L5 c
3 x, `% G) @$ n4 Q, b9 J0 w4 WRCMP are on scene and the name of the deceased has not been released.

m8 {* A+ \/ r1 O! nShell says it believes the death was an "isolated event", and "does not appear to be related to workplace activity".
